Have you ever thought there’s more to it? (Please Read)
People always talk about thinspo blogs and the pro ana like they’re the worst thing ever. ‘People are actually encouraging each other to be anorexic,’ ‘these people want to make each other worse.’ I’ve been thinking about it and I think that we are all as bad as they actually say.
Think back to why you created your account. Think back to why you use tumblr. It’s because it’s a mostly uncensored platform that allows you to share your thoughts and feelings. Sometimes it’s your way of venting. But for me, my reasons are probably different to the avid user. I want to be sick and this is the one place I know where people won’t try and make me get better if they know what I’m doing.
Why do you post when you fast or go a few days without binging? Because you want to be congratulated. Why do you post when you eat too much? Because you want to hear that it’s okay and you can make up for it later. Why do you post when you purge or when you have bad health episodes? Because you want to hear advice and comfort and be told that you’re going to be okay.
But the thing is, most people post about their own experiences because they want to be heard. People want others to see them doing stuff like that and be impressed. People want a place to be proud of themselves and have others be okay with what they’re doing to themselves. People want to feel like they’re actually sick.
And that’s okay. All of us are actually sick. All of us are struggling. We didn’t make each other sick. Maybe we encourage it a bit but that’s because we as individuals all understand that with this mindset, you only feel good when you’re hungry. We just need a place to get shit from others that we don’t get from anywhere else. Everyone, whether you like meanspo or sweetso or bonespo or fitspo or whatever, we’re all in the same boat and we’re all here for each other.
Why did you start you blog?
Everyone in this community just seeks the validity that we can’t get in real life.
