➥ the day teddy was born was the day her mother died. she never got to be held by the woman who carried her for eight and a half months. this moment seemed to dictate the rest of her life. she had two older siblings; a brother and a sister who her father seemed to prefer. whenever it came to her, she was the reason why his wife died. it was all her fault and there was nothing that could be done to bring her back.
that just made a people pleaser out of teddy. she did anything possible to get into her father’s good graces. she would work hard in school, she’d cook him dinner but any mistake she made was brought up tenfold. he wasn’t always physical but when it happened, it was difficult for her to process what she had done to deserve it because she had done nothing. her siblings never knew, he kept it hidden.
though growing up, she would visit her grandmother’s house every weekend and they’d bake cookies and play games until sunday would come around. then she’d have to go back home again and the cycle would repeat.
this was her life until about six months ago, she finished as her high school valedictorian. she put off college because she had not way to pay for it. she got a job as a waitress but that was just until she saved enough money to get as far away as possible. she came across coyote point; of course she had heard of the divide but she didn’t really know what it was, she didn’t pay attention.
she walked into la passarotta; got an audition and was employed by the end of the week.
