Time felt like it slowed down, and for an angel? It very well might have. He felt the fingers lacing through his hair, felt himself melt into the touch. Dammit, Gabriel, youâre better than this. Soon enough, he felt Deanâs full lips press against his, and every thought he might have had at that point flew out of his mind.
What really surprised him was that he ended up kissing Dean back. His eyes closed, losing himself to the moment, and he pulled Dean deeper into the kiss.
Gabrielâs lips were soft and pliant, and Dean wondered for half a second if this had something to do with that witch he killed, but then he didnât care. He pulled away from Gabriel and looked into his eyes.
âIs this okay?â Dean asked. âBecause I gotta be honest, I wasnât planning on this happening. But, I really donât want to stop.â He smoothed Gabrielâs hair back from his face. Dean had never really looked at him like this before, but Gabrielâs eyes were really beautiful, like sunshine filtered through expensive whiskey.
Dean wanted to lean in and kiss him again, but he wouldnât until he knew Gabriel wanted it as much as he did.
Gabriel blinked and looked into the emeralds that served as Deanâs eyes. âDean, I wasnât planning on this happening.â At least, not like this. Not covered in flour. Maybe covered in chocolate or whipped cream, but this? This had never occurred to him. âNow that itâs happening, though, I see no reason why it should stop.âÂ
He brought Dean back down into a kiss. Now that theyâd more or less gotten past the touch barrier in the nicest way possible, Gabriel was starting to loosen up again.
Dean sighed into the kiss and he pulled Gabriel up against his chest and tilted his head to deepen the kiss. He tentatively brushed his tongue against Gabrielâs list, delving past them to taste him. Gabriel still tasted like the pecan pie filling, but there was some other underlying sweetness.
He sighed in the kiss, and he slid his hands up Gabrielâs chest to slide his jacket off his shoulders.
Being so close to Dean was like a dream. Feeling the warmth of the hunterâs body against his own, the sensation of Deanâs hands sliding up his chest, tasting his tongue against his lips... It all amounted up to one very happy Archangel.Â
Gabriel shrugged his jacket off and brought his hands up to push Deanâs flannel off his shoulders, shimmying it down his arms until it came off. The angel parted his lips a little more and let his tongue slip against Deanâs.

That Was My Pie
It was purely habitual. Dean didnât even think about it,  at least not until Gabrielâs finger was in his mouth. He looked up into golden eyes and his heart thudded in his chest and he pulled away, feeling the deep burn of a crimson blush on his cheeks. That was⌠intimate. And Dean had no idea how to deal with it. âYeah,â he said. âIt is good.â He cleared his throat and rubbed the back of his neck as he looked literally anywhere but Gabrielâs face.
It didnât dawn on him just how intimate the situation was until Deanâs mouth was on his finger. He froze for a second, even after Dean pulled away, then looked at the tip of his finger. His cheeks grew hot, and he felt the blush creep over his ears. âHey, uh ⌠sorry âbout that. I, uhâŚâ Shit shit shit, what was he supposed to say? Dean was flustered, he was flustered, this was just awkward.Â
Dean chuckled awkwardly, completely unsure of where the hell he was supposed to go from there. Gabriel was blushing all the way up to the tip of his ears, and Dean knew he probably wasnât much better off. And they still had another thirty minutes before the pie would be ready to come out of the oven.Â
âItâs⌠uh, no big deal,â Dean lied. Clearly they both thought it was a big deal. Why else would they both be so embarrassed? Oh god, Dean needed some kind of distraction. His eyes darted around the room for something. âLetâs just clean this up while we wait for the pie, okay?â Â
Gabriel looked around for anything he could do to not be laid down in awkward town, and jumped at the chance to clean up. Anything to relieve the tension. He was normally a lot smoother than this, but there was something about Dean that made him nervous.
He started to put the filling ingredients away into the cabinets, and reached to grab the flour. Unfortunately, he miscalculated and the flour spilled all over him. He tried to catch the bag, but only ended up knocking it into the air to shower him with more flour.
âWell, I think itâs safe to say this is one of the most humiliating moments of my life.â
Dean bit back a laugh, trying and failing not to smile at the archangel covered in white flour. âIt ainât that bad,â he said, grabbing a mostly clean dishrag and walking over to Gabriel. Apparently being anywhere in the angelâs vicinity meant that Deanâs brain just stopped working properly.
With the towel in his hand, he reached over and started wiping the white powder away from Gabrielâs face. Half a second later, when their eyes met Dean realized how close they together they were standing, and that he was, in fact, tenderly touching Gabrielâs cheek when the archangel could literally snap his fingers and be done with the entire mess.
But Dean didnât stop and back away. âIâm sure youâve done much more humiliating things than this,â he joked weakly.Â
Yep. Gabrielâs brain totally flatlined as he looked up at Dean. He must have looked like a beet red toddler next to this Adonis of a man. He realized he wasnât breathing, and reminded his body that his vessel did in fact need oxygen. With his brain stuttering the way it was, it never occurred to him that he could clean everything with a snap of his fingers.Â
âI mean ⌠there was an incident with a horse,â he muttered. âAnd ⌠maybe a goat. That was pretty horrible.â He ran his fingers through his hair and shook some of the flour out of his golden locks. âBut this? Iâd say it ranks in the top five.â
Dean wasnât going to ask about the horse. He definitely wasnât going to ask about the goat. The thing was, if he had any questions about it, he couldnât think of them at that moment. Not with the way Gabrielâs honey eyes had gone ridiculously wide.
The flour was falling down from his hair, the light filtering through the white cloud glowed like a halo around his head. And Dean wasnât really thinking about anything Gabriel said, he was just threading his fingers into soft, blonde hair and bending his head to press his lips to Gabrielâs.

Dean watched Gabriel, watched the emotions playing across his face and the shame that he tried to hide in his golden eyes. It was entirely too familiar, if Dean was honest with himself. Gabriel was right; they were a lot more alike than people might see from the outside.
âYeah,â Dean said, then paused for a gulp of beer. âWell, weâre friends now. Thatâs what matters, right?â
His golden eyes shone brightly as he looked up at Dean. He honestly couldnât remember the last time someone considered themselves his friend. Gabriel felt his lips curl up into a smile and nodded. âYeah, I guess so.â He looked down at his beer for a moment and lifted the bottle to his lips, but he hesitated in drinking it. âYou really think weâre friends?â
âNo chick flick moments,â Dean said, shoving Gabriel gently and smiling. It was different, Dean being the one to comfort people. Usually, that was Samâs purview. But Sam wasnât there. So, Dean was doing his best. And it seemed to be helping. Gabriel was smiling now, at least. And, to Deanâs surprise, he felt less exhausted then he had when he got home.
âYou keep eating my pie, I might change my mind,â he joked.
Gabriel laughed and nudged Dean. He was starting to feel better, more like his old trickster self. He tussled Deanâs hair and snapped his fingers, ingredients for another pie appearing on the counter behind them. âLucky for you, I can replace it.â He started to mix together the dry ingredients for the crust and looked at Dean. âWhat kind of pie do you want?â
âPecan,â Dean suggested, raising his eyebrows. He watched as Gabriel mixed ingredients for the crust and shook his head. âYouâre doing it wrong.â Dean bumped Gabriel out of the way with his hip and started slowly mixing cold water into the flour mix that the archangel had already started. âIf you add the water too fast, the crust will be too solid. Youâll lose the flakiness.â Dean used a fork to combine what was slowly turning into dough. âYouâre good at the sweet stuff, why donât you start working on the filling.â
The angel smirked and leaned against the counter. âYou know, Iâve baked one or two pies in my day,â he said amidst a chuckle. He rolled his eyes and started mixing the dry ingredients for the filling, glancing up at the hunter. âCandied pecans okay? Or will that be too sweet for you?â
Dean raised an eyebrow and glanced over at Gabriel with a smirk. âIs there such a thing when it comes to pie?â It had been a long time since Dean had been able to share the kitchen with anyone like this. Castiel, of course, didnât eat. And Sam was hopeless. He could burn water.
Gabriel, however, seemed as happy to be baking as Dean was, and they worked together pretty seamlessly until the pie was, eventually, in the oven.
Once the pie was in the oven, Gabriel used his finger to scoop up some of the filling and tasted it, practically giggling. âOh, this is gonna taste so good!â He scooped up a little bit of filling onto his finger again and held it up for Dean, completely, 100% oblivious to what he was doing.Â

That Was My Pie
Dean watched Gabriel, watched the emotions playing across his face and the shame that he tried to hide in his golden eyes. It was entirely too familiar, if Dean was honest with himself. Gabriel was right; they were a lot more alike than people might see from the outside.

That Was My Pie
The hunt was a pain, and the drive back to the bunker had taken forever, so when Dean walked through the blast door, he didnât even bother carrying his bag to his room. He just dropped the duffel right there by the curving iron staircase and made for the kitchen. There would be beer and what was left of the pie Mom had made before going on her most recent hunt with Apocalypse Bobby waiting for him.
At least he thought there would be. âYou gotta be fucking kidding me,â he said when he saw Gabriel leaning against the counter with the aluminum pie plate in one hand and a forkful of the last slice of apple pie in his mouth. âThat was my pie!â
@xsugarplumsandfeathers
Gabriel had just finished closing his mouth around the fork when Dean walked in. He froze, as if facing down a T-Rex, like if he didnât move Dean wouldnât see him. After a moment, he swallowed the pie and blinked at the hunter. âI didnât see your name on it, Dean-o.â He totally saw his name on it. But, of course, once a trickster, always a trickster.Â
He couldnât resist fucking with the Winchesters, though his pranks had gotten significantly less dickish since his run in with Apocalypse Michael. With a wink, Gabriel materialized a fork into Deanâs hand and gestured with his head for Dean to join him. âCâmon, get in on this action with me.â
âThere better still be beer in my fridge,â Dean grumbled, swooping past Gabriel and opening the door to see that the archangel hadnât drunk all of his beer. Thank⌠well, someone. Sighing, he pulled out a bottle and popped the top off on the edge of the counter before reluctantly joining Gabriel.
He leaned back against the counter and forked a gigantic bite of the pie into his mouth, chewing and swallowing it before looking over at Gabriel. âWhat the hell are you doing here anyway?â
With a smirk, Gabriel took one last, small bite of the pie before handing it over to Dean. âExcellent question,â he chuckled, kicking off the counter to get himself a beer. âHowâd the hunt go?â Well, he clearly wasnât in the mood to answer the question. As usual. He flicked the top off the bottle and took a hearty gulp.Â
Dean snorted. âFucking witches, man,â he said around another bite of pie. âI lost my favorite flannel to some goopy shit I couldnât get rid of. I hate witches.â He continued to chew his pie as he watched Gabriel pop open a beer. Something wasnât quite right with the archangel, and before all the apocalypse world bullshit, Dean probably wouldnât have cared. But Gabe had really put his ass on the line for them with Michael, and heâd kind of grown on the elder Winchester.
âSeriously,â he started. âYou okay?â
Gabriel distracted himself with a sip of his beer and looked around the kitchen. He didnât know what to say that wouldnât end up sounding depressing.ââM fine,â he lied. âI mean, Iâve been killed by the two brothers I most looked up to and everyone I love either died or hates me, but âŚÂ âm fine.â That didnât work. That was depressing. Shit.Â
âWelcome to the family,â Dean said, shrugging. He wasnât exactly the greatest at this whole heart-to-heart thing, but he knew exactlyâwell, maybe not exactlyâhow Gabriel felt. He had been dead a number of times, and heâd seen and lived with every person heâd ever cared about dying. In some cases, multiple times.Â
Of course, he didnât say any of that out loud. Dean just gripped Gabrielâs shoulder and said, âFor what itâs worth, even when you were being a douche to us, I never hated you.â Dean smiled. âIn fact, back when you were the trickster? I really kinda dug your style.â
The angel wasnât used to this. Affection. It was practically a four letter word, even though it wasnât. He stared at the hand on his shoulder for a few moments, completely caught off guard. âYou know, I donât think Iâve had a family for a few thousand years,â he muttered. He glanced up at Den with a raised eyebrow. âWhat does that even mean, you dug my style? I killed you hundreds of times.â
âLook, you gotta take that part up with Sammy,â Dean said with a smile. âI donât remember it.â He set the empty pie tin down on the counter and looked over at Gabriel. âI mean that first time we ran into you. You were doing the whole just desserts thing. Candy and strippers and shit.â
Dean took a long drink from his beer. He really didnât know what else to say. There was nothing he could really say honestly about Gabrielâs family. Hell, the only other angels Dean didnât hate were Cas and Jo. But he could certainly offer his time and companionship. And it really seemed like that was what Gabriel needed the most.
Gabriel let the words hang in the air for a moment. He was trying to wrap his head around this development. Dean motherfucking Winchester was trying to comfort him? He never thought heâd see the day. He didnât particularly trust it (the last time heâd trusted someone, he got sold to Asmodeus) but he was willing to try. âI miss those days,â he admitted quietly. âIt was all just .. simpler then. I didnât have to be an angel, and you didnât-â He stopped himself. He wasnât sure what he was about to say, but he somehow knew it needed to be said. â⌠And you didnât have the weight of the world on your shoulders.â
Dean laughed sadly and shook his head. âIâve always had the weight of the world on my shoulders, Gabe. I just didnât know it at the time.â He shook of the shadow that always seemed to hang around him and finished off his beer. Then he reached into the fridge and grabbed another for himself and passed one to Gabriel. âI wouldnât change most of it, though. I know that sounds crazy, but if things had gone differently Iâd never have met Cas or you. Weâd never have gotten mom back.â He popped the top off of his bottle and looked at Gabriel again. âItâs been a long, exhausting, shitty road. But it took all this for me to accept that this is who I am, and be happy with myself.â
Gabriel cracked the bottle open and took a thoughtful sip from it. Well shit. If Dean Winchester could learn to be happy with himself, why couldnât he? He looked down at the ground in something akin to shame. âYou know, bucko? I donât know if youâve noticed, but weâre not that different. No one hates you more than you do, and no one hates me more than me ... and maybe Loki, but whoâs keeping score anymore?â
He sighed and thought for a moment. Dean was trying to make him feel better. Not many people these days extended that kind of kindness to anyone much less someone that had made their lives miserable. âIâm sorry,â he said at last. âFor everything.â He looked up at the elder Winchester and managed a weak smile. âIf things had gone differently, we could have been friends. Like, if I wasnât the trickster, and you werenât a hunter, we could have easily been friends from the beginning.â

âThere better still be beer in my fridge,â Dean grumbled, swooping past Gabriel and opening the door to see that the archangel hadnât drunk all of his beer.
He wasnât sure what he was about to say, but he somehow knew it needed to be said. â... And you didnât have the weight of the world on your shoulders.â
