I get why an all Asian cast is a positive thing, but the reason some people aren’t going to see it isn’t because we don’t appreciate Asian actors or Asian culture or oppose any Asian representation, maybe it’s because we can’t relate to the plot at all. Average Americans won’t and can’t relate to billionaires. Why would we want to go to a film that would degrade poorer people?

Then make your own post, because this post specifically about people who are refusing to watch the movie because it stars East Asians, just check the comment section under this movies trailer, its a mess. Of course the average Asian won’t relate to being a billionaire, movies aren’t always about being realistic, they’re about telling a story. Millions of people went to see Incredibles 2, do you think the average person relates to having super powers? Of course not, but they do relate to its core themes of family, love, and societal pressures to be normal. This same ideology can be applied to Crazy Rich Asians. While I have not seen the movie and cannot say for certain, I don’t think it necessarily intends to degrade poor people? The main characters lavish lifestyle is based off of the authors own childhood!
