this is what i would love to see happen in the future of starfleet academy:
“Captain, he’s hailing us.”
Nahla stared ahead through the viewscreen at the crippled Venari Ral ship, limping through the debris field, thrusters sputtering. “Put it through.”
The hologram flickered to life and revealed Nus Braka. The pirate had a gash above his brow, dark ichor dripping down his face. “Ah, ha ha. Hiii, Nahla.”
Braka chuckled wryly. “Ya know, I must say, I was so surprised to see your little ship out here, so far from Federation space.”
“You’re under arrest,” Nahla interjected, trying to get ahead of the pirate before he could buy himself more time. “Don’t make this harder than it needs to be.”
“Me?” Braka gasped, indignantly. “Make things harder? Why I never!” He brought up a hand and dabbed at the blood on his face, smile dropping slowly. “And I’ll never give up, my dear. You know that.”
Nahla leaned back in her captain’s chair and quickly tapped the console icon to alert her comms officer of their plan. “Nus, you’re a smart guy, no one can deny that.”
“Finally, some recognition from you Federation folks.”
“Do you know anything about Earth’s various religions?”
Braka’s brow raised slightly. “Can’t say that topic really interests me much.”
Nahla nodded and folded her hands in front of her. “That’s fair, there were a lot. But my ship is named after a goddess on Earth. Wanna take a guess at what Athena claimed as her domain?”
Nus sighed. “Enlighten me.”
“Wisdom. She burst from her father’s head, fully grown and was the wisest of their ruling gods. Kinda poetic for a school, right”
“And guess what else she had domain over?”
Sensors on the ship’s bridge lit up, pips and alert pings rang out. “Ma’am! The USS Lol’lan and Deliverance have dropped out of warp!”
The marauder looked taken aback. “What is this?” Braka snarled.
“Patch me to those ships, please. Nus, you haven’t taken a guess at what else Athena ruled over,” Nahla prompted.
“What was it? Huh? Forgiveness?”
Any trace of the smile from earlier dropped and shock and fear painted the other mans face. “Wait- wait a minute.”
“Goodbye, Braka. May you be forgotten here and now. All ships, open fire.”
Phasers and torpedoes from all three ships slammed into the pirates ship and for a brief moment, this small part of the galaxy was alight with a fireball.
