Mia: AT this point? I'm not surprised at all. Sooner or later we would have to get picked. I'm marrying Finn.You?

Mia: There's an event for the newspaper and a 50 year wedding anniversary.

Quinn: It sounds very weird to just announce that you're marrying someone that you hadn't even considered a romantic partner. But my name was drawn along with Victors.

It probably won’t, but if you have a better idea I’m all ears. No matter what we do, it’s going to be awkward. We can either let it or just try to look past it. The only way to not be complete strangers, but if you don’t want to do the whole sit down or wedding thing, we can also just go down to city hall and call it day. But whatever we decide, we need to do it quickly.

While I’m not exactly opposed to going to city hall and calling it a day, I don’t know if my parents would accept that as an option. I’m actually surprised they haven’t called me telling me they have everything figured out already for me. You must have an idea of what you’re interested in doing?

If I weren’t extremely gay, I think that statement may be enough to make me propose.

I appreciate the sentiment. I’m not entirely sure the world could handle us being more than just colleagues.

Now that you say that, I’m hoping I get matched with someone completely opposite of what they had in mind. Maybe it will teach them to stay out of my love life.

You don’t, but maybe that’s why I’m suggesting it. I know you’re a big shot lawyer, so that means you did over 7 years of schooling, but now it’s time to have a little fun. Get our of your comfort zone for a bit. You don’t have to do anything too outrageous.

That’s true. Nothing is really ideal honestly. I don’t think that anyone should change. Same. I didn’t expect it to happen either, but I guess we don’t really have a choice. Yeah, I was picked in the lottery.

You don’t think people should change things that they’re unhappy with about themselves? Even if it’s something as minor as not liking their nose? I’m still in the mindset that I might have a choice about all of it, but I’m figuring out what I’m supposed to do in the meantime. Do you already have everything all planned?

Saturday at 6 is fine. I’m flexible. I just want to talk and get this wedding started and get to know you and all that jazz. I won’t pretend that this is awkward, but we can find a way to push through the awkwardness.

Do you honestly think sitting down with someone who is pretty much a complete stranger to plan a wedding in basically two months is ever not going to feel awkward? So how do you propose pushing through that?

I don’t know how I feel about my parents signing me up. I mean I know why they did it, and I know they meant well, but I feel that they only did it so my reputation stayed intact. They thought being a night club owner would have people look down on me or something. But I don’t see how a marriage is supposed to fix that. Well maybe we need someone to start pushing back and then the rest of us will follow. It’s like we will just follow the masses kind of thing.

I honestly think you need to take your mind off of the lottery and unfairness of it and just go out and have some fun. When was the last time you just cut loose?

Maybe they’re hoping that you’re going to be paired up with someone who is widely known around town or comes from an important family. I guess they hadn’t considered you being paired up with someone who is ‘worse’ than you. Which might actually be one of the few ways to get enjoyment out of all of this.

Yeah I can see that. Plus who knows why she wanted it. But yes if they didn’t give her what she wanted then she should go and get it or get paid. Yeah I love my body. Wait…Quinn you are beautiful, what could you ever need to change?

She ended up winning the case, which actually kind of surprised me. Not that I don’t think she deserved it, I figured they would think that she was lying about most things she said. That doesn’t mean that there isn’t something I would change about myself in the future. There are a lot of subtle options out there.

Right. No, me neither. Luckily my job just involves baking people cakes.

So no one has asked you to bake a cake that you might regret?

I enjoy winning and I’m not really opposed to doing whatever I need to do to do it.

Both can be true– in fact, let’s have a little round of applause for how successful my day was! You can join in too, if you want to celebrate with me. Or celebrate your own successes. Is this one of those cases that you’re sworn to secrecy on by law or? Can you tell the masses if it’s interesting or not? The case itself might be exciting, it’s all about perspective!

I’m still not sure I believe your day was all that long, but I appreciate your enthusiasm about pretty much everything. I do regularly enjoy celebrating my own success so that’s something I also appreciate. I’m a medical lawyer so I can’t share a lot due to HIPAA, but it’s a malpractice suit because someone had some unexpected complications with a procedure. Mostly boring things.

Ha I can understand that. It is a lot. Yes Founders Day Ball they have it every year as always I just thought maybe that would change…or I was hoping so.

I don’t have a lot of experience with teenagers so I don’t think I’d be the best at keeping them under control. So we’re going to be expected to go to a ball along with everything else going on?

I think I can understand wanting to catch up with family. Somewhat. Does later Saturday night work for you? I have dinner plans in the evening, but I should be available after.

No, I definitely understand that. Criminal law just seems heartbreaking in some cases and maddening in others.

I’m not entirely sure I could defend someone knowing that they’re guilty. I know plenty of lawyers who struggle with the fact that they’ve had to fight for someone who did something horrible because it’s their job to and they have little choice in the matter. I don’t know if I could sleep at night.

Maybe not if it’s an occaisional thing.

A wise suggestion. Is it really cheating if you only do it occasionally?
