INFP/INTP: Both place a huge deal of importance on their individuality. And by “huge”, I mean it is often the core of their existence. The difference is that INTPs don’t care whether this is reciprocated or not. Hell, if it isn’t, it just makes them want to put more emphasis on it. INFPs however will have a secret need for their ideals to be validated in some way “This is who I am and I want you to understand or least accept it”. INTPs will actually prefer things to remain impersonal. INFPs may find more of a need to influence others. It is not to be mistaken for Fe however, but merely their dominant Fi wanting to be appreciated for what it is.
INFP/ENFP: Both are extremely idealistic in nature, although prefer to just show it rather than concertize it through a system like their NJ counterparts. INFPs however, tend to be more “aggressive” about their beliefs, stick with them even if it means being ostracized by others. ENFPs will find a great need to share their beliefs with others, or else it can make them diminish in value. This may make INFPs come off as more “true” to themselves than ENFPs, however ENFPs are better skilled at social navigation and therefore may propagate their values more successfully than INFPs even if they have to be more chameleon-like in nature to do so.
INTP/ENTP: Anyone who is accustomed to the MBTI will know that ENTPs are extremely notorious for their “rebellious” thinking and ruffling others through their hard questioning. Interestingly enough, INTPs are not so famous for this, even though most of them will say that they very much feel like this is a key component to their personality, probably even moreso than than ENTPs. This is because through their inferior Fe, INTPs find it mentally draining to express their views on things to others, let alone convince them of such. ENTPs through their extroverted personalities, will be much more flexible in that area, and therefore, people will hear them out better. They will also show a tendency to listen to other people’s opinions, soak them up, analyze it and just maybe, even be swayed by them. Something that INTPs seem practically immune to, making them seem much more intense in conserving their own views of the truth.
ENTP/ENFP: Dominant Ne first and foremost manifests in endless curiosity and questioning and thus both these types will lead their lives through these habits. The difference being that ENFPs feel personally involved in anything and everything they encounter and therefore will often wonder “Does it make sense to me and how I feel about things?” ENTPs however, are more detached and impersonal in nature, therefore wanting to figure things out only for intellectual stimulation. And this applies to people as well “What makes that person tick? Or happy?………lemme try something and we’ll see……” ENFPs may also ask themselves the same questions but with a more “attached” point of view and therefore upsetting someone for their own insight on them will often be off limits. Instead they prefer to understand the emotional core of others and may instead ask questions like “Why is this person ticked off by what I just said?” and these can’t be explained through impersonal data like the ENTP would, but rather through understanding the person’s inner value system and therefore, developing a more empathetic view towards them, even if values don’t match, which may come off as Fe on the surface.
