I deeply appreciate everyone who has been respectful since me and Neko spoke about the polyamorous route with MC, Harlequin and Pierrot— especially after I realized that (at least for some) it seems like there’s an ongoing culture or language misunderstanding!
For clarification (just in case it helps): Harlequin and Pierrot are not inherently in love or have romantic feelings for one another. The feelings they develop if you choose to follow their polyamorous route is intended to be ambiguous, to allow for each player to determine what they mean themselves. If you don’t want them to be together romantically then they aren’t! If you do? Then they are!
Interactive storytelling like these allows for these different interpretations to exist and be equally valid and ‘canon’ with one another, because each person will have their own feelings and connections with these characters! I can absolutely understand where someone may feel hurt if they thought that Pierrot and Harlequin’s romance was over and apparent in every single route— even I would feel a little surprised by that!
I will continue to reply to comments on the previous post to the best of my ability, especially if you are commenting in good faith and are respectful— and thank you to the people in the communities where I cannot articulate myself well (unfortunately I am a monolingual English speaker) to try and help make sure that if people are going to be angry, I want them to be on the same page.
