“Usually the Mayor, yeah. But there are private parties too; those are better.”Hayley nodded. “Anyway, you won’t get bored when it comes to nightlife around here.”

“Good then. I’m not really into the fancy parties.” Marcel was a wild guy. He could drop jaws in a suit but his favorite type of partying didnt involve them. “Honestly, I’m trying to make sure I am the nightlife around here.” His plan was to keep with the club and make it popular, so that whenever people had an idea of a good time, Marcel’s name came to mind.

“The club with the fighting cage underneath. I’ve been there.” Katherine nodded in response. “And I also know Thierry. We go a couples of decades back. He’s fun to be around. I didn’t know you guys were friends though.”

“Yeah its a good place, business has been booming according to Thierry. We get a lot of people in the cages and in the club itself.” Marcel said. He’d been doing a lot of the running of the place from Louisiana, leaving most of the nitty gritty stuff to Thierry, and he hadnt disappointed him. “Yeah he’s a good guy. I don’t usually turn people who aren’t.” he said, mostly hinting at the fact that he was his maker.

“Hey, there’s only so much cheer some people can take…” she agreed knowing she that she’d never be cheerleader material with or without the skimpy uniform. “This town you’ll see has parties for practically everything; talk about prose and fake niceness there.”

“All the parties held by the same people usually or what?” Marcel asked her, kind of wanting to get a feel for how things went in town. If the same people were throwing things he wouldnt mind mixing it up.

“I only drink blood bags when I have to. I prefer fresh blood.” Katherine admitted, knowing that Marcel was the same way. She didn’t see why they had to hold back or put themselves on some sort of diet. They were vampires, it was in their nature to drink human blood, and Katherine had always followed her own desires. She nodded as he explained to her why he was here and that he had his own club in town now. “Who’s your best friend and which club?”

Marcel nodded in agreement, he hated drinking out of the bag. “The shit in the bag tastes like slop, no thanks.” He’d have to be pretty desperate to not drink the real thing. He took advantage of his nature he didnt deny himself the pleasure of warm blood from the vein. “His name’s Thierry Vanchure, hopefully you’ve heard of him or he hasnt been doing his job. And it’s Full Moon Night Club.”

“Because you act new, and I’ve never seen you around before the first time we met. Also because most of the vampires in this town tend not to drink straight from the vein, but you do. Not that I’m complaining. I like having drinking buddies.” Katherine admitted, and it was all true too. She was glad that this vampire didn’t seem to stick to blood bags, just like her. “New Orleans, huh? What brought you here?”

“Well good. With all the flak I got for drinking from the vein, I was beginning to think this town was full of a bunch of pussies.” He said honestly. There was nothing on the planet that’d make him change his mind about where he got his blood from. “I wanted to get a change of scenery. Make some roots in a place other than New Orleans so I could swithc between the two. That and my best friend says he kinda likes it up here. So figured we’d open a club and..boom here I am.”

“Nice name. You’re not from around here, are you?”

“Thank you. And no, I’m not. How could you tell?” He asked, tilting his head to the side slightly. “I’m from New Orleans.”

“Uh-huh” she mused. “You can just ignore that but where’s your Christmas—”Hayley paused and laughed. “You know what, screw Christmas spirit. Just don’t open the door.”

“Yeah exactly.” Marcel chuckled. “Guess there’s nothing wrong with having it if you do but...I’ll pass. It’s just too much craziness and fake niceness and all that other crap.” he said, “Guess that makes me a grinch for thinking that.”

“It’s Katherine. And you are?”

“Marcellus, but call me Marcel.”

“Oh, it’s you again.”

“Ah the girl I let take my second meal, you again.”

“Boy, aren’t you a tough crowd for carolers…”

“Yeah, you’ve got that about right.” Marcel responded, nodding. “People knocking on your door every hour of the day and singing to you. No thanks. I have a radio for that.” Marcel got annoyed very easily obviously and man did that annoy him. “Not that I don’t like the christmas season, though.”

“Beat you to it. Not even sorry.”

“Well if you were sorry I’d forgive you so. It’s all good.” Marcel said, shrugging lightly. “You’re first person who hasn’t scolded me about drinking from the vein. I’m surprised.”

“My ex goes to Newport. Definitely spotted a lot of hotties when I would go visit her.”

“Alright, alright, alright. It’s a proven fact that there’s something to.. look at down there.” Marcel said, ideas getting into his head. “Are you in college?”

“I’d be careful what you wish for. They have a habit of popping up at the most inconvenient moments.” Stefan explained, eyeing the other vampire a little more seriously. “There’s plenty of vampires who don’t drink straight from the vein around these parts. We usually keep blood bags handy.”

Marcel just shrugged. “Well, when I see them I’ll be scared. Until then...” he just shrugged. He wasn’t the type to be afraid, he didn’t live in fear. Sometimes that could be his downfall. He laughed at the idea of having to use blood bags instead of taking straight from the vein. “You’re a real funny guy. Are you a comedian?” he chuckled. “I’m too damn old for that. I have standards.”

“Nah, I just ate her boyfriend. You can have her.”

“Ah damn. I was gonna get to him next.” Marcel said, but wasn’t really upset. “Oh well..”

“It helps that there a couple colleges around. Brings in some diversity,” he joked.

“Hm...maybe it’d be smarter for me to go to them then.” Marcel said, “I always loved the whole college setting.”

“Nope. Not mine.” Stefan leaned against the brick wall, crossing his arms. “I take it you’re new in town but I’m going to let you in on a little clue about living in Mystic Falls. You see, there’s this council and they’re not very vampire friendly. I’d keep my extracurricular activities to a minimum unless you’re looking for trouble.”

“Yeah, I keep hearing about this council. And I keep having to tell people I don’t care.. I’d like to see them show up to my door, then maybe I’ll think about it.” Marcel said and then wiped his mouth. “Until then, I’ll continue to eat. It’s how I live, obviously.”
