Not everyone can say they’ve been to the Big Apple, but [ LALIA KHAN ], a [ 29 ] year-old [ CIS FEMALE ] has lived in [ ASTORIA, QUEENS ] for [ 10 YEARS ]. This is the city of dreams and [ SHE ] knows it, because they came to NYC to be a [ POP STAR ]. Living in the city means they meet all kinds of people, but everyone always seems to think they look like [ JADE THIRLWALL ]. They even got away with free cab fare once because of it!
what’s up babes, it’s your girl em, adding a fourth tiny woman to my little army (i have a type, leave me alone)
this is Lalia (pronounced like lolly-ah). her surname is Khan, but professionally she just goes by Lalia because she wants to be Beyonce so bad
Here’s a link to the Spotify playlist of what her music sounds like in my mind: [ x ]
I’m going to write a full bio for her (I’ll link it here when it’s done), but for now here’s the basics:
She was born in Laredo, TX, in a close-knit little republican family who doesn’t speak to her anymore
Her mom put her in her first pageant when she was about eight months old. She kind of loved it once she was old enough to know what was happening. She loved the attention, and performing was fun, even if she wasn’t doing anything but walking and smiling.
Eventually, the competitions had talent portions, and that’s the first time she sang anywhere that wasn’t church. Her voice and her adorable smile were a killer combination, and she won a ton of money and crowns.
When she was 15, an agent “discovered” her, which means they gave her mom a business card and sent her to LA to audition for a girl group. It was very hyped-up, and Lalia was certain that this was her big break and she was going to be immediately famous.
She was kind of right. The other girls in the band (ridiculously titled BFF4L, as the girls were named Bea, Frankie, Fiona and Lalia) were great singers, and their first song was catchy as hell. It immediately went the 2010 version of viral, and nobody in America could escape it for over a year.
This meant the band got to open for a real-life world tour, with all the press and fans and autographs that came along with that. Hearing a stadium full of people singing along to their song was the happiest she’d ever been.
Until, of course, the whole thing came crashing down. What was at first an akward professional relationship with the other girls soon turned into petty jealousy and bitchy teenage brattiness. They did an okay job at pretending to be besties for the cameras, but it affected how they worked together, and every single after the first suffered.
Eventually, the band broke up, and Lalia moved to New York City. She got herself a little place in Astoria, Queens, that she still lives in to this day.
It took a while for the stigma of being that one brat from that girl band to wear off, so no agency or label would touch her for a while. So she turned to the internet.
That was where she realized that she could actually be herself, and people would still like her songs. She wrote an original about being in love with a girl, and it went the 2016 version of viral.
She got an agent and a label and a PR manager from that, and while they do still tell her what to say and do and wear, they don’t make her sing about boys, so she’s living the dream.
She’s not a super A-lister celebrity or anything, but she has a super loyal following, and people sing her songs back to her at concerts she headlines - songs she wrote, this time.
She loves touring and recording and performing, but her favourite thing to do lately is host the karaoke night at the gay bar down the block from her place. She does it every Thursday. You should come.
OKAY this is long so TLDR; lesbian pop star. Please be her friend (or enemy or love interest or all of the above somehow idk xoxo)
