About a month ago I got this idea to make a houndstooth print based on bats. It took for-freaking-ever to figure out a way to pull it off and get the colors set up in a way that didn’t blind anyone who looked at it, but it’s finally done! I added my favorite color combinations to Redbubble (that’s where these pictures are from).

個人的にインパクト大だったのは、なんといっても「日本しろあり対策協会」の慰霊碑だ。「しろあり　やすらかに　ねむれ」の文字が刻まれた供養塔はいちど見たら忘れられないインパクトがある。会のホームページには「生をこの世に受けながら、人間生活と相容れないために失われゆく生命への憐憫と先覚者への感謝の象徴」とある。著者がイギリス人観光客に説明したら腹を抱えて笑われたそうだが、このように駆除対象の害虫と駆除した人間の双方を祀るのは、たしかに日本独特の感覚かもしれない。
