Okay so first off spoilers, spoilers, #spoilers. You have been warned 🙂 So, I have a theory. Other people have probably thought about this too but it won't stop going around my head. What if the Azor ahai prophesy is literally Bran trying to tell Jon through the weirwoods (or fire) his real name. Think about it in s6 ep10 of the show in the tower of joy we never actually hear Lyanna say what the baby's name is. Could Bran be the Lord of light. And all these messages to the red priestesses are him trying to contact Jon. He is literally the prince that was promised, from Ned promising Lyanna to protect him. The sword through the heart? Howland Reed stabbed Sir Arthur Dayne in the back, through the heart, the Ned kills him. As he dies we hear Lyanna scream, probably giving birth, making Dawn light bringer as Ned used it for the final blow. Born amidst salt and smoke? Well maybe not born from it but Lyanna was crying when she made Ned promise and he burnt down the tower before they left. Why is he called Jon? Well everyone knows the prophesy. Ned can't turn up with a supposed bastard and say this is Azor ahai, too much attention so instead he named him after one person he truly trusts and admires John Connington. I think that the nights King is going to destroy the weirwoods from the roots and Bran will have to find another way to contact him before he lets the Wight walkers through the wall. He's going to do a Hodor on anyone he can to get the message across. Jon is the one who has to defeat them and Bran is trying to help the best he can. It's possible that the only way to control sending a messaging to someone and not turn them mad, is to go through fire rather than the mind. Glass Candles anyone? The prophesy is literally thousands of years of Chinese whispers trying to find the right person to hear it. But by now it's changed so dramatically that it hardly resembles the truth anymore. This is all a little jumbled and probably terribly written but it's 11pm I've just finished watching s6 ep10 for the second time and had to write this all down before it drove me insane (mad queen insane) Like I say I'm probably not the first person to think of this and it's probably not going to happen but I love the idea. Especially as it would give presidency to the 'you know nothing Jon Snow'... Not even your true name. I shall take off my tin foil hat now and end by saying this... We know no King, but the King in the North whose name is Stark..... Or Azor Ahai.
