I did today

I knew that all I would feel afterwards was regret and yeah a few seconds of calm but then I’d cough and remember why I don’t do this kind of thing anymore

They were a glimpse into a path with wasted time and poor decisions

A sweet moment and a stomachache to follow shortly behind

But god how I wanted to take a drag and fall into those bad habits like one jumps into a pool on a hot day

But still I kept my lighter put away because I remembered why I quit.

Not that one reason or the other but because it isn’t something that I need anymore.

True love is not about first kisses frogs or sweeping romantic gestures

True love is about cold hands and feet being thrust into warm legs and backs

True love is about knowing what the other will order before the resturant is even decided on

True love is about turning a diver into a spaceman using ufos and wild giggles

True love is a sock snowball war

True love is about trust falls that don’t need to be tested

True love is about dreaming big and small as long as you’re together

True love is about blinding smiles over legos and sheet metal

Have you ever looked above you? Really looked at the sky

noticed in rapture, the endless bounds and mesmerizing wonder that is just above our heads?

The colors are always changing.

Like chalk pastels blending into one another;

Fading and mixing.

Throughout the day above You watercolor paints bleed though the sky

Merging and inspiring art all over the world

The clouds strewn across the sky like bubbles in a child’s bath

Causing glee in the shapes they form

Elephants ducks unicorns and dragons all flying through the sky

Dusk when the gods wipe the chalk board clean

As the colors drain away pinpricks of light dance across the sky

inspiring tales of wonder and deciding the fates of those who stare up at them

there are endless wonders all through the night flashes of light illuminating the blue grey world

the faces of the moon laughing with us in our wonder

casting a silver light upon the world calming it down from the mania of the day

the morning rays waking the world

the sunshine cascading along flower petals brightening the colors of the world

The sun lighting days warming the ground and granting angel kisses to those that are lucky enough

The stars twinkle waiting to be wished upon
