Let’s all just appreciate Jackie for a minute.
She’s a polarizing character for Starco fans; you either love her or hate her, or a little in-between.
BUT. You can’t argue that she’s sacrificed so much for Marco.
I mean, look at her. This is the face of the girl that’s:
Spent most of her relationship silently coping with Marco and Star being *so* close with each other,
Had her boyfriend care more about his experiences with Star than her own,
And lastly, had to come to terms that her boyfriend would probably be better off in another dimension with another girl, without her.
Jackie knows him more than anyone else. She knows that he’s still, for the most part, happy being with her.
But she also knows how all of this is going to end. And instead of milking their relationship until it runs dry to keep him to herself, she gently sends Marco off. Notice how she never blamed or even referenced Star for anything during the break-up, or blamed Marco for his interest towards Mewni or Star - even when, deep down, she knows this was all because of Marco’s potential feelings for Star. She doesn’t want to cause blame, drama or unnecessary hurt for Marco, Star, or herself. That’s just not how she is.
Jackie’s willing to make the awful, painful decision to break-up with him — no doubt will she be heartbroken, crying for several days because of it — all so Marco can experience a better relationship and much happier life in Mewni. If that’s not love, I don’t know what is.
For all the Starco fans that are just glad that Marco’s single and Jackie’s out of the way, at least be grateful for her. Jackie’s given him so much emotional support over the three months they’ve been together. She’s strengthened him and given him the confidence and self-worth he needed. No doubt will Marco take on board what he’s learned through his relationship if/when Starco happens.
