She looked down and tried to calm herself a bit “I do know it is important for you, but I thought I am too. When was the last time we talked or acted like a normal couple…I can’t…“ she stopped for a bit “…I don’t know when we turned into roommates with anger issues.” She couldn’t remember the last time they kissed and that made her even angrier and sadder. ”If it was such a big problem for you, you could just tell me.” Nina didn’t mean to pitch her voice higher, but she couldn’t help herself. Was he really using this against her?! “What is it that you want me to do? Just stay in the apartment, not talking to you…cause you have more important things? Just tell me what, Nick…cause that is really starting to bother me.”
“You are so incredibly important to me. And it’s always going to be like that,” Nick said, lowering his voice, his hands raising up to take hers. The next comment made him think for a bit. Was it really a good idea for them to have moved into an apartment together? Was she doubting that? “I don’t… I don’t know when that happened,” he admitted. He had had a lot on his mind lately. Maybe that was the problem... the fact that he was so clueless. He took a deep breath, trying to keep himself together. “Tell you what? I don't have anything to say about what you do and what you don't... You just -- you need to bear with me. All my life I've done nothing but fail. Until I met you, and that's when things started to look up. I don't want to become like my father, Nina...” he paused for a bit, hoping she'd understand. “I want to be responsible. Get an education, do something I love doing. Do you not want that for me?”
