âThanks? UhâŚyou do too?â
âSo now that weâve both gotten all of the compliments out of the way, can I ask you for a favour?â

Scummy town!AU
Ezra rolled over, half a bottle of vodka still clenched between the addicts fingers while the scummy mattress tossed on the floor cooled his pale skin. He groaned, a migraine started in his temples and radiated all through his head. It wasnât until he heard soft snoring next to him that he realized his boxers where across the room along with clothes he didnât recognize. He picked his head up and turned to look at the person who had knocked out next to him. He reached out and shook the person awake, he dropped his head against the mattress, watching as the other woke up.
Nights were often full of regrets for Xerxei. To get what he wanted meant going out and meeting all sorts of people, which he couldnât pretend to enjoy, but at least he got it. Blood, blood, blood. His life - well, death, if he really thought about it - revolved solely around that, but the other things that came with it (drugs, alcohol, and sex) were a pleasant side item. It was with a displeased mumble that he woke, only to turn over and see the one whoâd brought him back to consciousness.
âMorning to you too, sunshine - assuming it is still morning.â
At last, her eyes decided to lay upon her companion, get acquaintance of the one nearby. A young man, he was, also in the possession of a book, like herself. He, however, seemed to succeed in his task of reading it, while she hadnât left the first two pages. âI ainât no science girl, I donât dig that.â A scientific explanation wasnât necessary. Isabelle knew why the birds werenât there, but she couldnât understand why every single one of them was gone. Some species didnât fly south and yet there was absolutely nothing at that garden. It felt dead.Â
âI think I know you,â she stated. However, the blonde didnât give any more explanation as to why she thought that. She didnât remember his name nor when they exactly met, but, of course, it had been within those walls. Most likely, he didnât remember her either. âI kindaâve been here beforeâŚâ
He paused, a frown appearing on his features. âIn that case, the birds flew south because itâs cold. Is that better for you?â he questioned, setting his book aside. Clearly he wasnât about to get back to it, so he didnât see the point of keeping up the pretense of attempting to continue. âBesides, nothing wants to live near Eichen. Itâs too damn depressing for anything to stay alive and well nearby.â
âKnow me?â he repeated, giving a laugh. âKnowing me implies that weâve done more than introduce ourselves once, which we havenât. One time, you jumped onto me and hugged me, and you told me your name. Thatâs all.â

Azure orbs stared at the long, thick wall that surrounded the old, medieval-like household that was nowadays a mental institution. Those icy blue eyes glared at the coldness of the stones, mind half-empty, debating whether or not allowing the thoughts in. It was dangerous to let her brain function these days, no thoughts were anywhere close to bliss or positivity. A small part of her wanted to find an escape, but the wholesome of her being couldnât care less where they locked her up. Added by the meds that a staff promptly shoved down her throat as her head she was suicidal, Isabelle really didnât care, all that mattered was the apathy she felt eating her from the inside-out.Â
She had a book on her lap, which she have been trying to read for the past hour but always found herself distracted by the environment around her. That small yard, the moist grass where she was sitting on, they brought odd feelings, but none that could snap her out of her indifference. She heard breathing nearby and the blonde slowly turned her face to look at the person. âThere ainât no birds âround here no more. There used to be tons of âemâŚâ It was winter, it was understanding most birds wouldnât be out there. Still, it was personal analogy to who she was the first time she was there and who she was now. First, a humming bird, warmed by the sunlight; now, caged in the cold somewhere, where singing was pointless.
Danteâs Inferno was proving to be more daunting than heâd expected. Xerxei had read it before, a few years ago, but the English language had ruined the book - there werenât enough rhyming words for the translator to keep the original meaning and the triple rhyme, so heâd sacrificed the latter for the former. Now semi-practiced in Italian, the twenty year old was attempting to read it in the original format, but it was not an easy read. The triple rhyme did make it easier to process, but much more difficult to focus on.
Hours had been spent in the same spot, paying no mind to the tension in his joints - and he likely would have remained there should a voice not have interrupted him. âItâs wintertime,â he stated, casting her a sidelong glance. âGeorgia isnât far enough south for most species; theyâll fly below the equator to where summer is. When spring comes, theyâll return. Itâs a cycle. Do you need a science lesson on why they choose to fly south? Some people say itâs instinct, and others say itâs a learned behaviour.â
âDoes that suffice for now?â
Cora shrugged. âWell I donât want to take my chances of having to go in some room to talk about why I opened a window. She looked back at him.âThats fine, I have my own, up in my room though.â She coughed. âSeventeen, I wouldnât say thats too young, maybe if I was twelve.â
âHavenât you noticed this place is running on a skeleton crew? Iâd be surprised if they noticed something go seriously wrong - when the third floor burned down, I thought they might leave all the girlsâ rooms posted as being up there. At least someoneâs paying attention, but not too closely. Better that way than some other,â he said.
âYou never know with these places, I could get almost a foot near the window and an alarm could go off.â She nodded. âI donât know, Iâve been here about a month a week longer than my brother.â
âTheyâre not all the same, I donât think. I canât say Iâve been to multiple, though,â he said, glancing towards the door before fishing about in his pockets. âIâd offer you a cigarette, but youâre a little young for that.â Even so, he lit one up for himself, making his way towards the window so the breeze would carry the smoke from the room.
Cora took his advice and opened a window. âThanks, I just canât deal with the heat.â
âAre you new here, or have you just not figured out the lay of the place yet? Iâve been here nearly ten months myself.â
âWhy the fuck is it so hot in here, this is very annoying.â
âIt isnât that hot in here. If you open the window, itâll be cooler; the bars are only there to keep us from jumping out.â

âWell, you leave for 3 months and someone just decides to set up shop as a store room.â She wiped a finger across a cabinet and pulled it away covered in dust. âThis is disgusting.â
âI agree,â he stated, nose wrinkling slightly at the grime. âMaybe you need to call the cleaning staff. They do still show up, right?â
drsylvie-daniels:
âCan someone please tell me what the hell has happened to my office?!â
âI was going to ask you the same thing.â

She leaned into him as he ran fingers through her hair, âTalk about what?â she asked, looking at him for a moment before her eyes returned back to the ground and she pulled her blanket tighter around herself.
âAnything you want,â he replied simply, moving to settle his hand upon her shoulder. âHow have you been?â Sure, they saw each other often enough, but there were gaps between their meetings.

âIf youâre under supervision theyâre legally supposed to get you every treatment you need, in or out of the facility,â he said with a shrug, shoving his palled up fists into his pockets. âYou generally just have to get a therapist to sign shit off.âÂ
âYou say that as though the therapists around here actually do things, Parker - and yet, we both know they donât.â The male averted his gaze, instead fixing it upon the wall. âIâll ask about it, if you really want, but weâll see if anything comes of it.â
the flowers are swelling with warmth and you tell me that you donât love me anymore. okay, i say, alright. itâs like â seasons pass in that minute. like years slither by. and your name â your name is stuck in my throat like a key i cannot find the lock to. okay, so letâs just pretend i never wanted to open my chest anyway. letâs just pretend i didnât love you only because you made the moon come back when it was meant to. letâs just pretend that you never made me constant, that the tide in my lungs didnât come and go as you did. okay, i say, alright. hereâs the key we never found. hereâs the hope you always promised to give me.

Convergence || Parker + Xerxei
parkerlylemontgomery:
âArenât you still supposed to go to some kind of physical therapy for this pain? Wouldnât that help? Some kind of water shit where you float on your back and the instructor, or helper holds you up?â he asked, kicking his foot at the floor. Parker didnât know what to say, or to do. The ball of anger continued to roll in his stomach and he bit down on his bottom lip.
âThe last time I checked, Eichen didnât have a pool.â His gaze fixed on the ground, mind focused on trying to stifle the pain. âThey donât generally let us dangerous ones out of here, either.â Xerxei knew very well that he wasnât much of a threat to anyone, but the staff seemed convinced that he was.
Convergence || Parker + Xerxei
parkerlylemontgomery:
âWhat the hell are you talking about? You barely even knew her, you would have had no right to go after her! Just.. Just..â Parkerâs hands began to the shake, the whimper from Xerxei felt as if it was echoing inside of his brain. Pain. Heâs in pain. he thought, but he didnât know what to do. What could he do? They couldnât fix each other, they were both fucked in their own ways. Two broken things canât fix each other. How could he have thought it was a good idea to come back? He should have stayed away. âIt doesnât matter,â he muttered, voice deadpan. Did anything here matter anymore? This relationship? This place? He didnât know. Itâs not like Xerxei really need him. Parker wet his lips, eyes flickering closed for a moment. Mentally and physically he ached. âWhat can I do to help stop the pain?âÂ
âI knew her well enough; she-- youâre right, it doesnât matter.â She was gone, after all, and he didnât think sheâd be returning any time soon. It would probably hurt Parker to know that the girl had come and sought him out one night, especially since sheâd been incredibly drugged up. At the otherâs question, he shook his head, a grimace appearing on his features. âNothing - itâll go away, eventually.â
