whenever i see ppl say that the alice=armand theory can't possibly be true because daniel has daughters im in tears SCREAMING at the top of my lungs that he has a 2nd unnamed wife
Thank you!
Daniel's second wife hasn't been named, but I have always thought at least one of Daniel's daughters was from his relationship with his second wife, and that the two daughters were half-sisters.
Because the car seat line from season one is a problem . . . because the implication from that line from last season is that at least one of Daniel's daughters was born between 1979 and 1980.
Because car seats became mandatory in the US in 1985. The same year that Alice's pregnancy happened. And the implications we've been given about that pregnancy so far has not led me to think it was Alice's second.
Now, to be clear, it was Daniel's editor who made the note about car seats and when they became mandatory. And who the heck knows what Daniel's editor really knows about Daniel's family life at this point.
But Alice becoming pregnant in 1985 was a date I noticed right away when we first got that clip of Alice's pregnancy being discussed. Because, at the moment, we have zero indication that Alice had a first kid back in 1979 or 1980 too, even with the line about the car seat back in Season 1.
And in the two memories that Louis has now brought up about Alice's pregnancy, Alice and Daniel already being parents at the time of Alice's 1985 pregnancy hasn't been hinted at at all. Not once. Because, by 1985, that little girl would've been at least 5-6 years old. But yet, no mention of her being there with them in Paris. Or anywhere else. So far.
Truth or Illusion?
Look, here's the thing: there is absolutely nothing that prevents Alice from having never existed, and the child she was pregnant with to have never existed either. Exactly because Daniel has a second wife. Both daughters could actually be from his second wife. And the memory of Daniel and Alice's child could, well . . . not have ended well within that false memory.
We just don't know yet.
But this could be one of the reasons why poking at memories of Alice can get to Daniel in such an emotional way -- not just the underlying real memories behind them.
Daniel very much could have a false memory about having his daughter in the car with him during that moment in the Buick with Derrick and his last 20 bucks, five years before car seats were mandatory. Particularly because his "ex-wife" says directly that Daniel never owned a Buick in the first place.
Daniel never says which of his ex-wives said this, only that one did.
So yeah, even if Alice and the child with her don't actually exist, Daniel's second wife is right there. One, or even both of his (real and living) daughters -- that do not speak to him -- could be from her.
We just don't know yet.
