I listened to the podcast and drew these based on the descriptions of the characters, without looking at their official arts. A couple extremely minor gripes I had compared to the official is that Bill is described as putting his X-Files shirt over his plaid button up (Hulkykrow probably misspoke but I'm doubling down), Samson's beard is described as "going up the sides of his face" while the official shows him as having a mustache; and Parker's eyes are described as looking tired at first but there's an intense intellect on closer look. Not to say I'm better or more accurate or nothing, I assume that the players had input on the art, I'm just saying...

(I do bet they're virgins btw. It's a requirement for magehood, trust.)

I would say he probably respects Abaddon! Uniting the forces of chaos isn't a small feat, and as someone from a legion as fractured as the World Eaters (who he really wishes weren't so fractured), he can't help but have a liiiiiittle admiration for anyone who manages it at all I think.

#whether or not he'd take orders from him is a different story #which i would say probably stands at a solid “maybe”#depending on the pitch #and how close he has to stand to the psykers #still doesn't measure up to horus but like who ever will yknow?#that's not the metric he's judging by #warhams: a chaos odyssey

You've plaued a few 40k RPGs, do you have any preferences for one ruleset over another?

I’ve really only done BC and W&G but from what I understand the fantasy flight systems all play relatively similar—so I’ll say it really depends on the vibe of the campaign you’re going for and table preferences.

W&G is good for feeling a little more cool and heroic, and has more support for playing Xenos, which I like a lot! It’s a bit less crunchy and granular, but it’s good for telling a fun story or potentially at high levels letting you roll boatloads of dice.

Fantasy flight games are a lot more crunchy and have a lot more granular rules, which can be scary for new players but very exciting for veterans that want rules for stuff like space combat or the mental illness table. The tables can and WILL fuck you up which I—as a certified Bad Luck Haver—have mixed feelings about, but the results as you’ve seen from chaos odyssey can be fuckin hilarious if you can roll with it.

Gun to my head I’d probably juuuust barely choose the fantasy flight systems bc while I like the ability to play Xenos and do like feeling a little heroic, I’ve found myself endeared to the chaos. And iirc there’s like a ton of really good fanmade content for rogue trader that lets you play every flavor of xenos so I could hack it if I had to.

world eaters, emperor’s children, anddddd god it’s hard to say for sure but I’d prob have to give number 3 to the word bearers? honorable mention to red corsairs and night lords tho.

I think my favourite things about the Lyphos v Wulfen fight was Bethael and Byzanti cheering on their battle brother. We love a warband that supports getting over their trauma through violence.

EVERYTHING went wrong for Lyphos almost immediately! I'm so glad he clutched it, because oh my god, his trauma really almost got the best of him! But yes, if there is one thing that unites space marines across chapters, it's state-sanctioned violence! :D
