I love that Emmrich is an older man. I love that Veilguard decided to do the thing that games refuse to do and give a man in his 50's a romance where he is distinctly surprised and touched that someone would pursue him. He is not aggressive, he is not creepy, but he is Older than you. I feel like some romances imply DILF-iness by putting more mature characteristics on a conventionally younger/buffer/more attractive template-- like, that man could be ambiguously 30-something with the same characteristics and the result would be the same. Like, Iron Bull is clearly in his 40's, but he doesn't immediately scream "I'm 10 years older than you at LEAST" unless you really look for it and think about it. This is no shade to Iron Bull, I love him to death and I always will, but I think he's a good example of this point.
But Emmrich is very clearly and very noticeably Mature. And I like that Veilguard did that. The fact that he, of all the romances, has the most kissing scenes? Iconic. I'm sat, I'm wearing the grave gold he gave me, and I'm locked the FUCK in.
