                          THEY NAMED       him   king  ,      placed   a   golden   crown   atop   his   head   and   name   him   leader   of   their   home  ,     of   the   riverland  .      and   then   they   call   him   boy  ,     and   green  ,     and   he   wonders   why   they   bothered  .              ❝   won   every   battle   we’ve   gone   through   against   what   they   would   have   done   .  ❞              they   wouldn’t   have   done   this   with   his   father  ,      and   he’s   only   asking   to   be   who   they   forced   him   to   be  .       he   only   wanted   his   siblings   home  ,     his   father   home  ,     to   go   back   to   how   things   were   before  .

𝐓𝐇𝐄  𝐁𝐔𝐒𝐘  𝐂𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐋𝐄  𝐀𝐓  𝐇𝐄𝐑  𝐁𝐀𝐂𝐊  ,   roslin  watches  him  shape  shift  from  capable  king  to  tired  man  .   she  is  observant  ,   watching  him  carefully  as  he  comes  nearer  still  .   she  isn’t  so  afraid  any  more  ,   not  anticipating  a  faceful  of  claws  or  teeth  should  she  say  the  wrong  thing  .

and  though  her  head  screams  at  her  to  ask  about  his  important  work  ,   to  assure  him  she  does  pay  attention  when  staring  solemnly  ahead  at  meetings  ,   roslin  finds  a  more  innocuous  question  playing  in  her  mind  .     “    do  you  like  to  read  very  much  ?   it  has  been  an  adored  hobby  of  mine  since  i  was  small  .    ”

                                       HE HOLDS HER       hand   gently  ,     fingers   entwined   but   still   left   cautiously   open  ,     always   offering   her   another   chance  .      they   had   no   choice   in   this  ,     but   he   can   always   offer   her   an   escape  ,     can   always   remind   her   that   he   would   never   take   anything   that   she   wouldn’t   give   freely  .     this   closeness   is   a   choice  ,       but   there   will   always   be   another   side   to   choices  .                         ❝   this   is   a   strange   place   to   come   for   company  .     few   would   venture   out   here  .  ❞               then   perhaps   he   might   hope   she   had   been   wanting   his   company  ,     for   the   king   uses   the   godswood   for   his   quiet  ,     moments   when   he   might   just   be   this  ,     and   little   more  .     it’s   only   his   company   to   be   found   in   the   presence   of   the   weirwood  .

                                HE WEARS HUMOUR       with   a   gentle   ease  ,     face   almost   built   for   the   matter   and   blooming  ,       cheeks   upwards   even   now  .          there   are   easy   matters   here   to   be   proud   of  ,     he   thrives   in   the   home   that   will   be   his   responsibility   one   day  .        even   now  ,      he   feels   the   weight   coming   down   on   him  ,      almost   mocking   him  ,     a   near   constant   reminder   of   everything   to  come   for   him  .                        ❝   i’m   sure   we   can   arrange   for   time   together  ,     and   i   do   believe   i   shall   beat   you   with   little   problem  .  ❞                speaks   the   golden   shade   of   a   tease   upon   her   face  .

        the thought of disappointing robb is almost as DISTRESSING as disappointing their parents. elder brother holds a dear place in her heart, outshining the rest of their siblings, which is why sansa cannot find any anger at his words.          ❝  yes, they are… ❞          her head lowers slightly. she doesn’t want robb to think she isn’t trying to be, as any siblings should be, a good role model. however, she will not accept all the blame; she isn’t the one running about causing trouble.          ❝  i do TRY, robb, i swear! she simply doesn’t make it easy. ❞
