I no longer remember how you taste

Your laugh’s become a distant memory

I guess my brain’s decided you a waste

Why hold space for someone who ignores me?

That’s what I want to believe anyway

The clear memories I have left are few

What did I do wrong? Why couldn’t you stay?

I am haunted by the ghost of your lip

I reread our texts like I’m reading a book

Each word I forgot takes me on a trip

And still I search, I continue to look

The way you express yourself is so fine

Your comments always witty and thoughtful

You argue with fierceness that matches mine

Yet never do you seem disrespectful

Your mouth curves in a peculiar fashion

So your neutral expression looks upset

When you start talking with passion

Lets me see previously hidden art

The whole world's now a vibrant shade of blue

But now it's my own eyes seeing the earth

A conversation led to my rebirth

Cold wind, once bitter, is now refreshing

The struggles of my life seem less pressing
