good intentions

A little pre-disclaimer: I REALLY WANT TO PLOT WITH ALL OF YOU AND I HAVE NO CHILL. I p much always use caps lock and get really excited about everything so?!?! But also the real point of this disclaimer is that i’m about to get on a plane to go to California for the weekend! I might not be on a super lot for these first few days bECAUSE I’M MEETING THE LOVES OF MY LIFE IAN BOHEN AND JR BOURNE AND SPENDING SATURDAY NIGHT WITH THEM FOR 12 HOURS SOMEONE LITERALLY HURT ME I’M SCREAMING i told u guys i have no chill i’m sry

okay but onto the real point of this post addie!!!!

OKAY SO

Addie has kind of a weird backstory. She’s technically Russian -- she was born in Moscow, she speaks Russian, her mother is an immigrant, and her grandfather owns a huge ass oil company in Russia (they’re v loaded), but you probably wouldn’t be able to tell unless she told you, or you met her mother (which you probs won’t bc her parents are literally NEVER there lol) 

Basically what happened is her mom moved to the US for university when she was 18, but she was kind of a wild child heiress and ended up getting knocked up before the fall semester of her freshman year was over (whoops) by a marine. They had a shotgun wedding to try and fool Addie’s grandfather into thinking they weren’t having a baby out of wedlock, but like, dude is smart and rich u ain’t gon fool him. 

Before Addie was born, her parents decided to get a quickie divorce and just end their relationship all together, but stay friends for Addie’s sake. Thing is, her parents are a little strange, and not only did they stay friends, but they continued to live together.

SO Addie grew up in a kind of ‘free love’ environment. Her parents were always parading new spouses around and were very like ‘feel the nature child’ so she wasn’t exactly a normal kid in elementary/middle school?? 

ANYWAY it’s really Addie’s grandfather and cousins we care about okay. Addie’s grandfather is literally the biggest tough ass. He’s super controlling and definitely a misogynist, but he also wants his grandchildren (Addie and her two older cousins) to be the best ever, because one day they’re going to inherit all of his shit. SO he sent Addie’s two cousins to Illyria because it was the best of the best of American prep schools, and they really excelled. When they were there, they were like.. The shit, okay? ANYWAY so it’s Addie’s turn to go, but she has this huge inferiority complex because of how ~AMAZING~ her older cousins are, and how little attention she got paid in their shadow. Being the only girl was also v hard for her like ??

Plot twist is she’s actually smart. Plot twist on the plot twist is that she’s not INTENTIONALLY dumbing herself down. She genuinely doesn’t think she’s that smart and honestly, in conversation, REALLY isn’t. She tries really hard, though, and that really shows on exams and homework which is what KEEPS her in school.

As far as personality, Addie is straight up like the nicest person you’ll ever meet. She’s very naive and way too trusting and passive. She can be a bit of a floozy if you get her insecurities to flare up, but she really does have good intentions -- she just makes REALLY awful decisions p much all of the time.
