Grad school is hard. This was a nice way to de-stress.
Grad School Animation Assignment
So for class, the professor wanted us to create a custom character in a run and idle animation cycle.
My first step was to draft out the base (in blue) and once I was happy with that core motion, I then used red to highlight secondary animations.
For simplicity, I made the character athletic to reduce the number of moving objects in her form.
For the idle, I decided to be more ambitious. It ended up being the harder of the two animations, mainly due to the subtlety of the motions. The idle pose is based off of Chie Satonaka’s idle animation in Persona 4: Arena:
It was abusive work. Altogether 8+ hours of work to get both of them to this final state. Totally worth it tho imo.
This is a commission I did for someone who was writing a fanfic for Fate/Grand Order. Gave me a chance to experiment with the wood texture brush.

Never touched a Persona game in my life until Atlus casually dropped a PC port on Steam last month. It showed up at a time when I was feeling down from months of isolation and personal anxiety, and it proceeded to take me on a journey of personal growth and fun hijinks. Inspired me to make this little piece.
