FINALLY are we going to talk about how UNNECESSARILY PAINFUL and potentially downright traumatizing these mammography procedures are? There ARE alternatives. Breast tomography (a CT scan basically) doesn't require turning the boob into a pancake and other such torture methods. Neither does an MRI. Yes, you could have gotten a damn CT or MRI instead of doing this to one of the most sensitive parts of your body. Additionally? Mammographies have a relatively-high false positive rate (for every 1 life saved from breast cancer, there are 10 who undergo unnecessary treatment) AND a 10% false negative rate. The radiation from the x-rays also contributes to increased cancer rates. And because most people who get mammographies are women... Tell me our medical system hates women without telling me "our medical system hates women". Stick THAT in your Breast Cancer Awareness campaign.
