“Wow,” Bradley says, and Jake almost can’t hear him over the sound of the wind. The audible force of his awe just barely reaches him, tangling with the song still rolling through his ear. “Pretty.” Jake breathes hard as he watches Bradley’s profile, the sun glinting off the sharp plane of his nose. He’s edged in gold all around; his neck gleams with sweat, and he has a few little freckles there that Jake can’t remember noticing before now. Lips parted around an exhale, Bradley swivels to give Jake his back as he watches some pelicans go by, or listens to a family shrieking in joy on the sand below. Jake blinks, still breathing heavy. “Yeah,” he agrees, as if murmuring from a dream.

                Natasha is bored, scrolling through Instagram, when she sees it. Two handsome men standing side-by-side, the guy in the back rolling his eyes but his smile is wide and cheerful. Although there are captions, she turns the volume on, the guy talking has a nice voice, but he’s also signing, movements fast. Fluid. Fluent.

                “Hi, I’m Robert. Bob. And this is my brother Jake. Thirty-three. Deaf. He works fulltime as an engineer, has his own house. He’s also chronically single because he has terrible taste in men. So! I’m taking over, I’m taking applications for people that want to be his boyfriend. Oh yeah, he’s also gay. So, sorry ladies, you’ll lead to look elsewhere.”

                In the background Jake has been signing, not matching what Bob has been doing with his hands. Then Bob throws back his head, laughs, shakes his head and rolls his eyes.

                “My DMs are open and I am taking applications. You don’t need to know sign, but it’ll definitely help bump you up the list.”

Staggering in at 7am, still drunk, missing a shoe, has drink stains on his shirt, lipstick smears on his face, tie missing, tear in his pants, feather boa around his waist. He's been at Javy's bachelor party all night, and Javy's sisters planned a banger of a party. Jake is glad he's taken Monday off work to recover. But standing at the entryway is a hot guy who is looking at him with raised eyebrows and Jake just gives him a little jerk of the chin and hopes he never sees him again.

No such luck. Next time Jake sees him he's just coming back to his apartment from the building gym and the same guy is there, waiting for the lift. He's wearing a suit this time, a full three-piece and looks all professional and put together and Jake feels even more hot and sweaty by comparison. I yearn for Omega Bradley. He makes it through Top Gun, guarded, and teaches the next year. Hollywolf does their best, but even they struggle to get through to Bradley. He meets Jake on his second deployment, and that stupid alpha of a man is smitten with the hardass omega. Jake chases after him, respectfully of course, and starts getting through. As my lovely roommate says, Jake would be pussy-whipped for Bradley. He would shower the fuck out of Bradley with pampering, showing him how loved he is. I yearn for Bradley introducing Jake to Hollywolf and Jake being terrified of Hollywood because that's Bradley's Omega provider and role model and a badass pilot, and admiral.
