We've got a new studio! I know, it's only been a year since we got the last one, but, believe it or not, the smaller space (which could only hold 2, sometimes 3 or our 8-member team) was the SAME RENT as the new space that can comfortably hold all 8 of us, plus others! We've posted this on our other socials, but, as always, we have no idea what we're doing or what interests any group of people at any time. Posted this in a few parts on Bluesky with ~15-20 likes per post (had to break it up), on Facebook with 20 likes, on Reddit with over 1k(!!), and the average over on Insta is 4 :'( So, uh, wat?! Anyway, I'll be posting some more photos (mostly behind-the-scenes stuff) as well!
Oftentimes, people ask about the purple mountains in Studio 2 and the new Studio 3. Well, this comes back to an idea we had for a mural at Studio 1 (which didn't get finished before we had to move). We were doing a mostly black and grey motif in our bullpen and I had the bright idea to riff on Loading Ready Run's first Checkpoint set with their mountains, albeit more abstract. Chris got to painting and you can see the work-in-progress here. When we got to Studio 2, we decided to do the mountains again since we weren't allowed a "real" mural by the building management. Chris suggested purple since it's our primary brand color. It also happens to be Kristy's favorite color... the Crayola Crayon "Purple Mountains Majesty"!
In addition to taking inspiration from LRR, we also designed the new bullpen with the color palette/ design elements of Studio 2.0 and the break room with the color palette of the first office we had in Studio 1.0 (especially those orange radiators and pipes)! See, when we got our first office space, it was just a single room, just shy of 200 sq/f. We then started taking over most of the floor in that building little-by-little. However, since the building for Studio 1.0 got sold to become a luxury hotel, that first office was the only one that ever actually got finished anyway. As such, there's a lot of nostalgia for that space for us. Additionally, when we were getting that first office done, we had always wanted orange roller shades to match the other orange accents like the ones Bossa Studios has. Well, mission accomplished! We also have these nice black and white photos of the current studio building and the previous 2 to remind us where we came from. It also adds a little bit of class ;)
