I’m posting this here because I haven’t said a word about Ethos yet on tumblr and that’s kinda the reason I made this thing!

With years of 257 days, an Ethosin calendar is structured differently than the calendar we use.

Each year is composed of fourteen months. The 3rd, 6th, 8th, 10th, and 13th months consist of nineteen days, while the other nine months all have 18 days. There are also six days per week, so each month is made up of about three weeks. There are 42 weeks in a year, with five spare days left over each year. These extra days of each year are something like leap days, but they fall on five separate holidays at the ends of each 19 day month. With each year, one holiday is celebrated more than the other four, and on the sixth year of every cycle, all of the holidays are celebrated more than normal, as the weeks re-adjust every six years and people love finding excuses to not do any work.

Seasons are also a bit different. Summer and winter are significantly longer than spring and autumn(about 20 days). The equinoxes(spring and autumn, respectively) fall on the 10th day of the 2nd and 9th months, and the solstices(summer and winter) fall on the 8th day of the 5th and 12th months.

Days are also shorter on Ethos, being a full five hours shorter at nineteen, as opposed to twenty-four.

Humans are biologically different on Ethos because of the schedule they have to live by. An Ethosin cannot adjust to a 24 hour circadian rhythm, just as a real person couldn’t adjust to a 19 hour schedule. An Ethosin only requires about six hours of sleep to function as well as a real person would with 8 hours of sleep. However, an Ethosin would also become tired and require sleep more quickly than a real person would. Generally, there are only two meals per day: one in the morning and one on the evening.
