you'd think being a weeb for more than half my life now would've made me get good japanese but no. I took chinese in school so my roundabout method of reading not-yet-translated material is reading kanji like hanzi for meaning and sounding out the kana to see if it sounds familiar. not like that makes me literate but I got through a JP instruction manual like this unscathed so if it works it works
