Soraru Birthday Video Project
Hello!! I was thinking that we should do something nice for Soraru this year, and decided to do a video project for him. (If anyone was planning to do this too, I apologise! I hope no one was doing it ><) If you’re interested, please keep on reading. Be it drawing a simple piece of art or even just writing a simple message, I hope you’ll join to make Soraru’s birthday the happiest!!
General things to take note!
Soraru’s birthday is on November 3rd, thus the dateline for all submissions will be on October 18. (We might need more time to animate the video.)
If there is a chance that you might not make it to the dateline, please contact me (Bria) on twitter @idkbria or on my tumblr to schedule an extension, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me there as well!
Please note that all obscene materials/inappropriate materials may be cut off from your submissions or voice messages with or without warning.
Firstly, you must register to join the project, please fill up the Google Docs Form, there will be instructions on what to answer when you’re there.
After registering, you can submit your work anytime before the dateline. When submitting your entry, please submit it to [email protected], with:
- Your name: (the one you want to be credited with in the video).
- A social media account you use frequently: (can be Tumblr or Twitter.
- The country you live in:
- The attachment/link/message that you want to send to Soraru.

Fanart must be in 1920x1080. (Please try not to have it less than 720x480 or it might lose it’s resolution/quality.
Try to base your fanart on songs he’s covered/made, happy birthday themed, or anything happy. Refrain from gory, dark, or sad themes since it’s a birthday video!!
If you could, please scan your artwork in A4 size for high quality/resolution purposes.
If you do not have a scanner, please take your traditional fanart with a good camera or phone camera. Make sure there are no shadows in the picture and everything can be seen clearly.
As mentioned above, Try to base your fanart on songs he’s covered/made, happy birthday themed, or anything happy. Refrain from gory, dark, or sad themes since it’s a birthday video~!
In your registration, if you could, please specify the theme that you’re going to do.
Photos can be anything as long as it’s related to Soraru’s birthday or Soraru himself. You can go wild with your imagination with this!
Please make sure the photo(s) are also in high quality.
If you’re doing photo edits/collages, please make sure they’re in high quality.
If you want to write calligraphy/handwritten messages to Soraru it is possible as well!
Please make sure that the words that you wrote is big enough and neat enough for Soraru to see.
If you are using English, please make sure the English is written neat and is written with simple English as utaites might not be good at English.
If you want your message to be translated before you write them, please drop me a message on twitter or tumblr. (links are above and below in the credits). And we will try to translate as fast as possible so you can translate.
Please scan your message after you’ve written.
If you can’t scan please take a clear photo without shadows with a good camera/phone camera.
You may write whatever you want but please keep it short, don’t write a whole essay in one go!
Please keep the messages safe for work as well, if we find anything that might appear rude to us, we will not hesitate to delete it.
These messages will be shown on the video too! Just email us your message on [email protected]!
If you’re good at Japanese, you may write the message yourself and email it to us. We might do a proofread
If you’re not so confident in Japanese, we can translate your messages from English/Chinese to Japanese for you. Some parts might be different to translate it to Japanese more effectively.
Please keep everything to at most 200 words!
And just a reminder, no not safe for work stuff in your messages!
This may be anything you want, but please keep the maximum message to about 1 minute and 30 seconds. Anything longer than that will be cut.
You may talk in Japanese if you’re able to, but if you decide to speak in English, please use simple phrases as Soraru might not understand some of the English that you might be trying to say.
If you wish to speak in Japanese but need help translating your message to English, please send us a script of what you want to say as well, we will help you to translate and you can record the voice message as well.
Please upload the message somewhere we are able to download from.
Please make sure that your audio is not peaking in volume
Your message must be in mp3/wav format
There must be minimal to no background noise
And finally, if you have good microphones, please use those to record your messages, if not, try to speak as clear as possible in your headphone’s microphones.
If possible, please send over a written script of what you said in the audio message.
This is for people who are interested to cover songs made by Soraru/sung by Soraru.
Please note that your songs will have to be mixed and recorded by yourself.
We accept solos and duets or choruses, from all ages and all genders.
Please make sure your cover is related to birthdays. They can be ballads or cute songs. Please try not to sing songs with profanities or sexual references in them (i.e: Ifuudoudou, Koshitantan)
Please try to choose a song from 1-4 minutes.
Please make sure your song is not peaking in volume
Please make sure that it is in mp3/wav format
Please make sure there is no background sounds.
Please upload on a website where we are able to download it from.
Lastly, please refrain from using a computer/headphone microphone to cover the songs with.
Lastly, it is possible to do more than one submission! There is an option in the Google Docs Form where you can choose to do more than one submission, so if you’re doing more than one please do tell!
