watching ‘cyberbully’ on netflix…

… want to say something kewl and ironic about this, but i can’t 

this movie, however over-dramatized it may seem, hits home really hard

i had to switch schools at the beginning of 7th grade because a girl ‘cyberbullied’ me so hard.  and cyberbullying obviously goes way further than the internet.  i sat alone at lunch every day, then she’d have all of her people gather around the table where i was sitting and they’d point/laugh/say horrible things.  a 12 year-old with negative self-esteem doesn’t really have many defenses against such things, especially when the bully girl was ‘the most popular girl in school’.

yeah i dunno.  it’s just interesting; my older sister’s generation (she’s 30 now and i’m 21) was really the first to be regular teen-aged internet users, but my generation was the first to basically grow up on the internet.  and it’s effects are sort of like those of a medication that is widely prescribed but it’s side-effects haven’t been studied long-term.  i don’t think anyone realized how much the ‘Internet’ would so easily bring out the very worst, the real evil, in people.  people are so mean to each other, especially girls, especially young girls.  urgh.
