Sex and the City was one of the most iconic shows to come out of the 2000’s. Carrie’s eclectic style, Charlotte’s classic style, Samantha’s sexy style, and Miranda's corporate style exhibited how women so different—could be best friends.

Carrie’s Manolo Blankiks were truly the star of the show. While Carrie would never be caught dead in sneakers, she would happily prance around New York City in $400 shoes. Carrie would dress these up with beautiful gowns, or integrate them into a sporty outfit. Nevertheless, Carrie was an icon.

Charlotte was known as the Parkside Princess. She dreamed of finding a man that would fit her cookiecutter lifestyle. Charlotte’s style perfectly manifested that. Her wardrobe consisted of cardigans, preppy skirts, and sweet headbands. Apparently dreams do come true.

Samantha might've been more popular than New York itself. She was known well for her risky outfits, and behavior. Samantha had a free life which she made sure was reflected through her glamorous outfits.

Miranda was known for being uptight and very judgemental. The gray cloud that always seemed to hangover her head was shown through her boring workwear. However, when she went out with the girls, she was finally able to shine.

Gilmore Girls, an iconic TV show from the early 2000's shows Lorelai's eclectic, bold style and Rory’s classic, preppy looks capturing early 2000s trends and each character’s unique personality. In this article I am going to show you some of the styles that we see throughout the show. Lets get started!

Lorelai’s signature bandanas, seen throughout the show, capture her laidback, easygoing personality. By keeping her hair pulled back and out of her face, they reflect her hardworking character and effortless, 'not-trying' style that still feels unique to herself.

Skinny scarves are another iconic accessory in Gilmore Girls, especially for Lorelai and Rory. These scarves add a fun, stylish touch to their outfits, capturing the carefree, fashion-forward vibe of the early 2000s with a simple detail.

Graphic tees are a fun, casual staple, especially for Lorelai, who wears them to show off her quirky personality. Often paired with jeans or layered under jackets, these tees reflect her playful spirit and give a personal & relaxed touch to her everyday style.

Turtlenecks are a recurring fashion staple in this show, worn by both Lorelai and Rory. Versatile and classic, they add a cozy, polished feel to their looks, often layered under jackets or paired with scarves, perfectly reflecting the small-town charm and the practical yet stylish wardrobe choices that define the show.

Lastly we see fall colors as a key part of Gilmore Girls fashion, with warm, earthy tones like deep reds, burnt oranges, and browns frequently appearing in the characters' wardrobes. These colors not only create a warm, cozy, autumn vibe of Stars Hollow but also add to the show's charm.

Gossip Girl is one of the most influential teen shows of all time. Besides the outrageous storylines, the fashion is one of the most memorable aspects of the show. Let’s take a look my favorite fashion moments from the show.

The most recognizable outfits are their school uniforms. The characters often venture out and add their own personality to the uniforms. The most important example of this are the uniforms of Blair and her minions. They often wear their uniform paired with designer garments to display their social status and wealth.

Blair got married twice in the show. Her most beautiful wedding dress is from her first wedding. Her stunning dress was made by designer Vera Wang.

Jenny’s alternative transformation is my favorite fashion moment from the show. Not only does she look cool, but the writers did a fantastic job tying her style, personality, and bad actions together.

This is my favorite Blair outfit of all time. After a scandal, she returns to school in this outfit to hide her identity. Not only is it chic, but it is extremely hilarious because it makes her stand out more. One look and you’ll know that’s Blair Waldorf.

Gossip Girl is one of my favorite fashion forward shows of all time. I love how the characters’ style play a huge role in their personas and display their social status. There are many iconic fashion moments and designer pieces shown throughout the seasons.

In season 6 episode 9, Carrie attends an old friend's baby shower. During this time, Carrie’s friends from her past have since gotten married with kids. Carrie was still trying to figure out her crazy life, while still happily attending these events with gifts.

Carrie arrives and is faced with a dilemma about taking off her beloved Manolo Blaniks. Carrie grapples with the idea of taking them off, she complies, and they get stolen. When asking to get reimbursed for the shoes her friend states “we shouldn't have to pay for your extravagant lifestyle.”

Unfortunately her friend was not against paying for Carrie’s shoes as she was displeased about Carrie’s lifestyle. Was she jealous about Carrie’s freedom and wished she still lived the life she used to? Just because one woman chooses a childless lifestyle, doesn't mean she shouldn't be accepted as an equal to someone that does.

The fact of the matter is, her friend chose her own lifestyle—Carrie didn't. So is it the host responsibility for her shoes, or not? In the end, Carrie sneakily registers herself at Manolo Blanik, and she pays for her shoes. So yes, a woman does have a right to shoes—especially Manolo Blaniks.

In Season 1, Episode 2 of Gilmore Girls, "The Lorelais' First Day at Chilton," Rory starts her first day at Chilton, where she feels out of place and overwhelmed by the rigorous academics and other students, including Paris Geller. Meanwhile, Lorelai faces embarrassment when she arrives at Chilton in casual clothes due to a laundry mishap.

The first iconic fashion moment in Gilmore Girls happens when Lorelai arrives at Chilton, a prestigious high school, dressed in a pink tie-dye t-shirt, jean shorts, and cowboy boots. Despite covering up with a full-length trench coat, she eventually reveals her casual outfit while meeting the headmaster. This contrast between Lorelai's causal, messy style and the formality of Chilton reflects back on the quirky and warm hearted theme of the series.

Next, we are going to look at Rory Gilmores iconic Chilton uniform. It is classic and preppy, perfectly reflecting the elite, formal environment of the school. It consists of a navy blazer with the Chilton crest, a white button-up shirt, a pleated gray skirt, and knee-high socks, often paired with black loafers. The uniform not only emphasizes the traditional atmosphere of the school but also highlights Rory's transition into this new phase of her life. This formal uniform has inspired many around the world to create their own twist on classic school girl attire.

In the end, whether you're channeling Rory Gilmore's polished schoolgirl charm or crafting your own signature style, fashion is about more than just clothes—it's about how you express who you are. In this episode, all of the characters attend an exclusive masquerade ball. Because of their disguises, drama unfolds due to mistaken identities. The fashion in this episode plays a big part in the plot and showcases their high social status.

My favorite is Blair's outfit. She is dressed in all black, with silver and black accessories that allude to her intentions that night. Her tiara is fitting for her role as queen bee. All episode she stands in one place, waiting for her boyfriend Nate to find the clues leading to her.

The most important outfits of the episode are Serena's and Jenny's. Their dresses are similar, and later in the night Serena lends Jenny her accessories. Blair forbade Jenny to attend the ball and Serena is supposed to give Nate the last clue. Nate stops Jenny thinking she's Serena, and confesses his feelings for her.

Chuck is in an all-red outfit, wearing a mask with an evil nose and horns. This outfit is fitting because Chuck is known for being a creep. Jenny instantly knows it's him, and seduces him as revenge for him assaulting her. At the end of the episode, Chuck is left locked on the rooftop with no clothes.

Sex and the City is an iconic tv show that follows four friends: Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Maranda. The series dives into the ups and downs of  friendships, relationships, and the struggles of finding yourself in your thirties. Carrie Bradshaw is the vibrant main character of the series, that so many of us fell in love, with through her glamorous fashion and complex life.

In the early seasons Carrie’s classic 90’s, but whimsical style, represented her exciting and carefree attitude towards life in NYC. Her later relationship with Mr. Big added an extra complexity in her already hectic life, which we saw mirrored in her personal style.

As the series approached the early 2000’s, Carrie’s style incorporated asymmetrical hems, sequins, sheer moments, and wild prints. Carrie was not one to follow trends, instead she often set them, and was not afraid of making bold style choices.

By the end of the show, we saw a huge shift in Carrie’s look as a whole. The shift was meant to show the viewers how much Carrie had matured and evolved as a person, and how she was ready for the scariest chapter in her life—to settle down.

Gilmore Girls is a sweet, drama filled series set in the small town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut. Based on a mother, Lorelai, and her daughter, Rory, the two of them face life's challenges together. Rory wears many iconic looks throughout the show that exemplify her intelligent and kind personality. Throughout the course of Rory's life, her style remained under the same structure of classy, timeless looks but as she got older she found a more sophisticated appearance. Let's take a closer look at how her wardrobe has changed along the way.

In season one, Rory starts school at Chilton, a prestigious private school, where she wears a school uniform. This uniform is an iconic outfit that sets the tone for her style in future seasons. It feels realistic, resembling what real-life students might wear, which likely helped viewers feel more connected to the show. The uniform has a classy, preppy vibe while also being modest, which mirrors Rory’s personal style even outside of school.

Throughout the series, Rory embraces all the fall essentials, with sweaters being a standout! We see her in all types, from turtlenecks to oversized styles and quirky patterned designs. While her style remains consistent overall, by seasons four and five, she elevates her sweater game, incorporating more sophisticated and stylish choices that reflect her growing maturity.

In the final seasons of Gilmore Girls, Rory's style evolves into a more elevated version of her signature look. Now grown up and attending Yale, she still embraces her classic fall wardrobe with rich autumn colors but adds more skirts, dresses, blazers, and trench coats to her outfits. These pieces give her a polished, sophisticated edge while maintaining the timeless, preppy feel she’s always had.

Gossip Girl is a teen drama that follows the lives of privileged teens in New York. Unlike her peers, Jenny grew up poor in Brooklyn. Her desire to improve her social status drastically changes her appearance throughout the seasons. Dissecting Jenny's experiences will provide more insight into her style evolution.

In the first season, Jenny is an outcast at her high-class school. Jenny looks up to queen bee Blair Waldorf and offers her talents. After noticing how useful Jenny could be, Blair allows Jenny to get close to her. Jenny's style in the beginning is colorful, sweet, and mimics Blair's preppy academic look. Her style demonstrates her desire to fit in.

As the show progresses, traumatic situations cause her to start rebelling and seek revenge. Instead of colorful preppy outfits, she wears dark clothing, edgy accessories, alternative hairstyles, and dark smokey makeup. Because of her dreams of being a fashion designer, her outfits are always unique and fashion-forward. Her unwavering desire to be queen bee can be shown in some outfits with an alternative twist.
