There’s something that’s been bugging me for a while now and I couldn’t help but to make a post about this….
Now as a HUGE assassins creed fan, (especially AC3 and Connor) I understand self ship, fanfiction, and making OC’s for our boy Connor. The game doesn’t show any indication of a love interest or his future wife. It just ends his story there. But outside of the game, I’ve read that the templars made propaganda on his life saying that he married a blonde woman and she took the kids and left him all alone, which is stated to not be true. Canonically he’s married to a Native Woman and had three children and also stayed within her tribe (this is shown in the AC Reflections comic).
What I’m trying to say is…why do fans whitewash his wife? All I see is Connor paired with white OC’s or colonial women. There’s not many stories where Connor meets his wife or a Native Woman. Fans would always pair him up with a white colonial woman despite having a Native wife in canon. Is it because many of the fans based their OC’s off their image? Or do they not know about the Reflections comic that showcases Connor’s life after AC3? Which is understandable but if not that, then why white wash his love story? Maybe I’m too woke but I took notice of this recently and it’s now bugging me lol.
What are y’all opinions?
I'll throw my hat in the ring.
Firstly about the blonde woman he was said to have had kids with then separated from, the confirmation that wasn't true is mostly from comments and not stated in the same source its taken from. Naturally I think some are still confused about it's canonicity.
We never meet his wife in AC reflections (one of my peeves). We know she is native, and they had kids... That's kinda it. Hard to make ship art or talk about her when she really only 'exists' through the child her and Ratonhnhaketon have. What's she look like? What's she like? We don't know.
People are not white washing her, most people don't even know she exists since reflections on it's own is not a popular comic. When people are self shipping or making an insert OC they tend to make the OC reflect how they look in real life. If a good handful of Ratonhnhaketon self shippers are white, well then their self inserts will probably also be white.
There's also the fact that some people might want to have a version of what Haytham and Ziio had, but with Ratonhnhaketon instead. So in this dynamic he would probably be paired with a colonial woman.
And well lastly, Ratonhnhaketon tends to be shipped with Aveline (or at least he used to be). He was at some point planned to have a romantic relationship with her that was scrapped later down the line.

They stole my infamous designs… and tbh I didn’t think that this could ever happen to me :V I've seen people get their designs stolen but I really thought I would be safe from it since I don’t really make a lot. I have put the links down below to report...

you guys might have seen the post by @gladii0lus where we found that our art had been stolen and reuploaded onto AliExpress... I guess i never really thought i'd have to worry about this kind of thing T_T
Firstly, I advise if you are a smaller artist in a nicher fandom, CHECK THESE SITES like AliExpress for your work. Look up your fandom names and browse, it's important to get ontop of this stuff. Looking up DMC, inFAMOUS and a few other smaller fandoms I'm in, I was surprised to see other small artists I know were also being ripped off.
Secondly... These listings seem to use ai to upscale pictures found on thumbnails for keychains. My designs seem to have been upscaled, you can tell by their ugly mushy details. Sure you save money buying off this rip off listing, but you'll get a worse product in the end.
Lastly, what can we do? So far I have tried reporting the listings and contacting the store. I have not gotten much yet, but it's to be expected they don't immediately remove listings, and there is a language barrier. I think the best course of action is reporting WITH evidence. Evidence as in, pictures of the original store the stolen art is from (our etsys/ACGoods), and explaining plainly in the report description that the art is stolen from our stores and must be removed.

NEW STORE ANNOUNCEMENT!
hi everyone! As a few of you know, I run an etsy where I mainly sell keychains of my art, mostly just as a side thing to give smaller fandoms fun merch. After consideration, I've also decided to give @acggoods a shot!
