“is that a MOVIE or something – yeah, tuna!  it’s only one of the best movies out there!  kurt russell, dennis dun,”  and then there’s a sensual pause, “kim cattrall.  there’s martial arts,”  and he mimes some moves, pretending to karate chop in jim’s general direction.

“you –” hiccups, “think so, tunes?”  andy doesn’t really register the sarcasm, bless him.  king of missed cues.  he’s been going through it, considering everything…  “i uh,,  i dunno, tuna.  everything’s been CONFUSING lately.” 

IT’S TOO EASY TO FORGET THE WEIGHT    of her actions while jim’s looking at her like that.   somehow silence feels lighter around him, as if he can siphon the mundanity out by proximity alone.   whatever it is, pam knows it’s rare.   and rare things deserve to be noticed, little by little.   whether that means a lunch break that runs a little   (  a lot  )   over - time or a prank humoured for the sake of it.   for the glint that emerges in green eyes every time dwight nears the edge of the latest cliff they’ve built together, him leant over reception and her  accidentally  silencing the phone.   actions shared by coworkers across the globe, no doubt.

“  nose shmose.   you didn’t even notice the jar of kevin - faced jelly beans.   i expected more from you, halpert.  ”      a last minute addition to her work of art, scrawled out at the bottom of the page but easy to register upon closer inspection.   it shouldn’t fill her with so much pride.   this tiny, insignificant thing, doomed to land in the trash soon enough, but stranger things have certainly happened within the walls of this office.     “  oh!  and, if you flip the page, there’s phyllis.  as santa claus, like she’s always wanted.  ”

        eyes  fell  and  honed  in  on  the  inadvertently  overlooked  illustration.  smirk  overtaking  his  expression.  there  was  a  certain  level  of  genius  in  making  jelly  beans  into  kevin.  he  thought  so,  at  least,  and  there  would  be  no  one  to  argue  against  him.  this  was  something  that  only  they  were  privileged  to  see.  another  small  thing  linking  the  two  of  them.  another  minuscule  ( yet  invaluable )  thing  that  made  coming  to  work  every  day  worthwhile.  

she      lets      a     few      giggles      loose.      she     knew      andy      could     that      high      in     octaves…      but      meredith      and     dwight…      well      that     was      unexpected.      although      while     it      was      worth     it..she      was      sure     dwights      high      pitched      happy     birthday      would      surely      cause     her      nightmares      and     nights      of      lost     sleep.      she      studies      the     change      of      his     expression      as      he     opens      his      present      and     can’t      helping      the     growing      excitment      on     her      face.      only     for      jim      would     she      allow      herself      to     be      so      easily      embarrassed.      ❝             my      moms     attempt      at      bringing      the     family      together      one     christmas…      set      me     up      in      probably      the     ugliest      christmas      sweater      you’ve      ever     seen.      and      get     this,      probably      the     worst      part      was     we      were      all     matching.      she      had     them      on      our     christmas      cards—     that      were      sent     to      everyone.      didn’t      help     that      i      also     had      just      gotten      my     braces      on      too.          ❞            

“          eh,                 ”                 there  is  a  shrug,      followed  by  a  soft  smile.              “          i’d  say  no  considering  the  amount  of  old  men  that  have  tried  to  cop  a  feel      ––––––      but  i  do  like  to  deem  myself  a  lady  with  manners.          ”              straw  moves  around  in  drink  a  little,       causing  ice  to  clink  against  glass,       before  she  takes  a  sip.

                 “          hey,      i’d  be  lost  without  paper.    i’m  a  list  kind  of  gal,      if  i  don’t  have  a  list,       i  don’t  know  what  i’m  doing.          ”                 there’s  a  pause  as  she  takes  another ,      longer,      gulp  of  her  drink:      perhaps  the  week  had  been  more  stressful  than  she  had  let  on.        “          oh,     definitely.     they’re  like  the  devil  wrapped  up  in  thirteen  year  old  bodies.                 ”                     the  thought  makes  her  shudder.       “          honestly,      i  think  i’ll  be  going  grey  by  the  time  i’m  like  thirty  thirty  and  i’ll  have  a  full  face  of  wrinkles  by  the  time  i’m  thirty  five.                  ”

        ❛  fair  point.  ❜  a  grimace  making  a  faint  appearance  on  his  face.  ❛  set  yourself  apart  from  the  creeps.  smart.  ❜  a  nod  of  concession  precedes  a  sip  of  his  own  drink.  

     at   the   mention   of   toby,   she   feels   almost   bad   for   the   guy.      he’s   done   nothing   wrong,   and   yet   michael   hates   him   with   a   passion.      but   maybe…      maybe   that   was   the   key   to   getting   through   to   him.      she   wouldn’t   call   it   a   threat   exactly,   just…      a   forceful   suggestion.      ❝   you   know   jim,   that   might   actually   work.      if   we   give   toby   some   kind   of   power,   or   we   tell   michael   if   he   doesn’t   stop   we’ll   make   him   sit   with   toby   for   an   hour   every   day…      he’d   do   just   about   anything   to   prevent   that   from   happening.   ❞

 he  was  no  fan  of  halloween.  a  lack  of  ENTHUSIASM  for  the  holiday  on  full  display  annually.  nothing  about  the  celebration  particularly  appealed  to  him;  the  costumes,  the  SCARES,  the  pumpkin  carving—  it  just  felt  SILLY  to  him.  those  feelings  sidelined  earlier  in  the  day,  however,  when  it  was  SUGGESTED  he  reconsider  attending  michael’s  party  at  schrute  farms.  which  is  how  he  came  to  find  himself  following  a  dirt  path  leading  to  a  beet  farm  alongside  that  very  suggester.  he  even  dressed  for  the  occasion,  albeit  still  in  his  half-assed  fashion,  in  a  costume  comprised  of  found  pieces  he  already  had  on  hand.  

❛  what  are  the  chances  we  DON’T  wind  up  regretting  this?  ❜  there’s  a  playfulness  in  his  tone.  his  own  attitude  toward  this  party  aside,  it  still  had  all  the  makings  of  a  disaster.  ❛  i’m  thinking  like  a  ten?  percent  chance.  maybe  fifteen?  ❜  he  wasn’t  sure  what  a  party  thrown  by  michael  without  the  help,  and  RESTRAINT,  of  the  party  planning  committee  would  have  in  store  for  them,  but  knowing  michael  it  would  be  EVENTFUL.  whether  that  would  be  good  or  bad  remained  to  be  seen.

Hobbies: uhhh  does  daydreaming  about  the  kind  of  art/fanart  i  would  create  if  i  had  even  an  ounce  of  talent  count?  if  not,  then  reading  & writing  sometimes  and  i’m  trying  to  teach  myself  to  be  more  proficient  at  photoshop.  oh  and  i  make  those  embroidery  floss  friendship  bracelets  when  my  anxiety  gets  bad  just  to  keep  my  hands  busy  and  mind  occupied.

Inspiration: oh man, lately inspiration has been kind of hard to come by but usually watching the show helps and sometimes listening to music but it has to spark something and it’s been difficult finding music that does that as of late. 

Story Behind URL: i  wanted  something  that  conveyed  how  jim  spends  his  time  at  work  and  this  was more  concise  than  fraternizes  with  the  receptionist 

jan   awaits   his   response,   and   truth   be   told   it   wasn’t   what   she   expected.      he   was   defending   michael,   or   protecting   him   at   least.      she   held   only   a   slight   respect   for   that,   but   they   both   knew   michael   needed   to   smarten   up   before   it   bites   the   company   in   the   ass.      ❝   jim,   i   appreciate   what   you’re   trying   to   do   for   michael,   but   please,   don’t.      he’s   never   going   to   learn   if   we   keep   covering   up   for   him…   ❞      jan   has   to   admit   to   herself,   she   has   protected   him   herself.      handled   it   on   her   own   instead   of   bringing   it   further   into   corporate.      ❝   every   one   of   those   employees   quit   because   of   michael’s   behavior.      i   really,   really   don’t   want   to   force   the   whole   branch   to   go   through   another   diversity   training   session,   or   another   sexual   harassment   session.      frankly   it’s   unfair   to   put   everyone   through   that   when   we   all   know   there   is   only   one   responsible   for   it   all.   ❞

           her lips turn unto an amused smile when she hears him speak, grateful this is a moment without any cameras in the same room. appearing into the kitchen with her own hat on, her hands carry two pieces of cake from the conference room, setiting one in front of him        fork in said piece. ‘ it could be worse, remember when michael insisted to sing       no, rap      it alone for meredith’s? ’

     pam      can     barely      had      back     a      chuckle.      arms     cross      and      a     small      smirk      comes     across      her      lips.     ❝                  it      was     my      idea…      i     knew      you’d     hate      it.      i     told      them      it     was      your      favorite      part     of      birthdays.            ❞      a      soft     expression      falls      onto     her      face      as     she      hands      him     a      tea      pot.                  ❝      𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐲      𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬     𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥      𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞      𝐮𝐩     𝐟𝐨𝐫      𝐢𝐭.       ❞      she      would     never      forget      the     tea      pot      with     an      old      photo     of      young     jim      in      it     that      she      had     received      for      christmas.      so     she      finally      decided      to     return      the      favor     with      her      own     tea      pot      which     contained      a      very     old      and      embarrassing      photo     of      herself.      

     ❝   good,   good,   i’m   glad   to   hear   that.   ❞      a   brief   smile,   just   to   be   polite.      now   it’s   time   to   get   down   to   business,   which   she   really   doesn’t   want   to.      jan   was   tired   of   having   these   conversations   with   this   specific   branch,   more   specifically   michael.      but   since   he   wasn’t   here,   she   could   at   least   talk   to   someone   rational.      discussing   this   with   toby   would   only   make   michael   more   difficult   to   deal   with,   as   she   knows   his   distaste   for   HR.      ❝   well,   as   you’re   well   aware   only   three   remain   here   at   the   scranton   branch   from   when   stamford   joined.      you,   andy   bernard   and   karen   filippelli.      that’s   half   of   who   we   started   with,   jim.      half.      and   —   and   i   know   that’s   not   your   fault,   or   the   fault   of   the   other   employees.   ❞      it’s   not   jim   who   is   in   trouble   here,   it’s   michael.      she   pulls   out   three   papers,   all   letters   from   the   former   staff   who   left   after   the   merger.      ❝   i   want   you   to   read   those,   jim.      those   are   letters   from   the   employees   who   left.      they   all   have   one   thing   in   common,   why   don’t   you   tell   me   what   that   is?   ❞

“Yes, more creative, even though that’s still my favourite gift I’ve ever given you. Glad to know you cherish it.” She beamed warmly. Cece loved her parents, and she was glad that she could openly express her artistic side since she clearly stole that gene from Pam. Philip on the other hand was just as goofy as her dad– or at least from what she knew from the funny stories he told them as toddlers. Halloween was special to her, just as Christmas. They might have just been holidays, but it meant spending time with her family; and who would trade that in for anything else? Later, she’d go to college and these times spent together would just be memories. Older kids usually didn’t go trick-or-treating so they had to have fun while they still could.

She rolled her eyes again at his suggestion. It was a gag shirt– still, not a costume. Actually, something she might’ve wear if Philip hadn’t borrowed it from time to time. “He wanted to go as ketchup and mustard bottles—” That was NOT happening as it was not only embarrassing but ridiculous. Cece was not going to be seen in some store-bought costume that lacked creativity. They had to spice it up. “You’re going to dress up like Uncle Dwight. You still got his glasses, right?” A beat passed as she teased. Actually, that would have been a really great costume, but she didn’t want to cross the line. “Okay, okay, bad joke, but we’re going to be the Addams family I’m Wednesday, Philip wants to be Pugsley and Mom is Morticia. So, that makes you… Gomez. If you’re okay with the idea.” 

                  he  knew  it  wouldn’t  be  that  easy.  not  with  two  of  cece’s  passions  stacked  against  him—  holidays  and  creativity.  she  definitely  inherited  so  much  from  pam.  honestly,  he  was  thankful  for  that.  pam  passing  her  talent  and  passion  for  art  and  all  things  creative  onto  another  generation  was  a  blessing  in  his  eyes.  but  the  costume  thing—  he  really  could  have  done  without.  

‘ that’s  funny. ‘  his  reply  dry,  but  his  expression  soft.  he  did  still  have  those  glasses,  along  with  the  watch.  his  habit  of  hanging  on  to  things  that  held  sentimental  value  continuing  to  hold  strong.  but  it  would  have  taken  an  incredible  amount  of  convincing  to  get  him  to  don  that  getup  again.  thankfully,  the  suggestion  was  just  a  joke.  (one  he  was  kind  of  proud  of.)  ‘ wow. ‘  his  eyes  wide,  assessing  the  idea.  in  terms  of  the  spirit  of  the  holiday  and  creativity,  a  group  costume  of  the  addam’s  family  was  much  more  up  cece’s  alley  than  ketchup  and  mustard,  he  had  to  admit.  he  loved  that  both  cece  and  philip  hadn’t  reached  the  point  that  they  were  embarrassed  to  do  anything  with  he  and  pam—  he  was  glad  to  still  be  so  included  in  their  lives.  however,  this  was  a  lot.
