(so we're just gonna pretend continue from here ig?? I do remember Steven meeting wordman also throwing in some headcanons for my next gen au bc I keep forgetting to share em XD)

He just couldn't get the masked hero out of his head. Something about those cold blue eyes screamed familiarity to Steven. But he couldn't put his finger on it.

from his research of Lexiconians, blue wasn't an eye color that they had naturally. Usually reds, brown/hazel and yellow. He had done this after incident with Becky. Not wanting to be caught off guard for any possible other changes and misadventurers. While normal for his daughter's alien side, it was foreign and unpredictable for the boxleitner family.

Maybe the hero has been a hybrid like her. There was so many questions, the formal villain had. Judging from Chase's face, he could see his eldest was pondering about the earlier events as well.

"Let's just go inside and try to find out what exactly happened first before we do anything else kiddo." Steven stated. Chase nodded though he was still thinking about earlier events. Maybe it would be a good idea to clear their heads and at least hand Squeaky back to Blu before they could learn more about this "Wordman". Chase and Steven walked inside, ignoring the oddness of the unlocked door as they both figured it was either Blu or Becky who left it open. None of the men, not even Squeaky who was still in Steven's pocket, expected an all too familiar face standing in their living room. Alex was pissed at Steven right now. Extremely pissed. This was seriously getting out of hand. He knew Steven had issues with the mouse which were justified. He also had these issues with villains which were much less okay. Now he has gone too far. According to Lady Redundant Woman and the other freaked out villains he had visited in jail today, Wordman nearly went off on an odd citizen because they had brought up Wordgirl. Something that was considered taboo around the hero, but it was clear whoever that citizen was he didn't know. Alex sighed in reluctant acceptance. He knew their "conversation" would evolve into fighting. He just hoped Steven would hold himself back if Mouse was around. Alex didn't hate the man. No. He just hated what Steven was becoming. Steven was sometimes reminding Alex of a particular being that he truly despised. He knew Steven despised him too so he didn't bring up the monster's name. Though Alex wondered if that may help break the state of mind Steven was in right now. Alex shook that though out of the way and turned his head towards the door as he heard it open. Well it was time to get this over with. "Okay Steven we need to have a serious chat right....oh uh...hello there. Can I help you with something?" Alex asked, stunned and taken aback that not Steven, but two random strangers walked into this house. Though judging by their expressions, the two strangers seemed just as shocked to see Alex there as he was to see them.

this day was just filled with surprises wasn't it?

The three of them stood there in a unspoken game of statues. No doubt trying to wrap their minds around who they were seeing.

To say there was emotional baggage,wouldn't be a complete lie. Last time Steven had seen. Alex in person has to be five years ago. Didn't look like he aged a day.

"Alex, what are you doing here?" Steven asked, speaking up first. He kept his tone neutral his confusion was evident on his face however.

Alex looked surprised at the man's question. This guy sounded like Steven but he didn't look like him. This man had a ponytail along with a beard and mustache. The Steven he knew just had a small beard. There was also a mix of white along with brown in this person's hair. He and the other young man also had heterochromia. Something his Steven didn't. Though Alex couldn't help but stare at this person's eyes a bit. This man had a gaze that was hauntingly reminiscent of the Steven he knew before the accident. That lively gaze as well as a spark in his eyes. Something Alex had missed. Alex also noted the young man next to the other guy. His hair and eyes, his facial expression, they were almost like.... Alex shook his head. Pushing that thought out of his mind, no matter how much longing he felt from that idea. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to space out." Alex apologized to the two. Both who were still looking at him with shocked and uneasy expressions. This bothered Alex. The man said his name, he obviously knew who he was, yet Alex never saw this guy before. So why was there a sense of familiarity about him.? Alex decided to answer the guy's question, maybe even as one of his own. "Well I am here waiting for the owner of the house to return so we can have a talk. Do you two have a reason to see Steven Boxleitner?" Alex asked. Steven became alarmed and troubled when he saw the door to his house opened. He only knew of a few people who had a key to his home and Jenkins was still at the labs. Emily and Victor were likely still working so that left one person he did not want to see right now. It puzzled Steven though, if Alex was here he would have not left the door open like that. "Mouse honey, stay in the car." Steven directed his daughter. Mouse nodded though she immediately had a worried look based on her dad's expression and tone of voice. Steven parked his car in front of his house, then he along with Bob slowly and cautiously walked to the front door. Both of them preparing to handle what was on the other side. Steven peeked in and was met with a confusing sight. Alex was there which confirmed his suspicions, but there were two other people there. Not just any two people, but the civilians he met earlier as Wordman. Steven could tell that he walked into a bizarre conversation as all three men had a mix of confused and uneasy looks on their face as they were chatting. Well Steven wanted to know why they were here and what their business was so he decided to make himself known. "Excuse me who are you and what are you doing in my house?" Steven demanded, causing the three to jump and turn around face him. @wordgirlnextgen

"you house-" Steven's words cut off as his eyes widened. There standing in the doorway scowling was HIM.

Wait Alex looking not a day older than the last time he saw him...and seeing himself....his past self....

But that couldn't be... he didn't recall this day ever happening...

Sure his mind has been nearly scrambled from fusing with squeaky but his mind still remained sharp as ever. It didn't make sense.

There had to be a logic explanation to this.

"dad?" His son's words snapped him back to reality. He stood upright coming to a half conclusion of what was happen right the now. "You may not believe this...but I'm you, Steven." He says to his other self. "A different you. Now I'm not sure completely how this is happening...but I have a hunch it has to do with the machine I've been working on..."

Steven merely raised an eyebrow at first towards his….counterpart’s claims. It wasn’t that he believed him. He did believe him. Stranger things have happened before. Still the idea of alternate dimension travel was new. “So what you are saying here is that you are from an alternate dimension brought here by accident due to a machine of yours.” The other Steven nodded, though he was a bit taken aback by this Steven’s cold and serious tone. Nothing like himself at all. “It does seem like a strong possibility. Though time travel can also be a factor. How many kids do you have?” Steven asked his counterpart. This world’s Steven decided to respond again in a blunt and cold tone. “I only have one child. A daughter. That is it.” He answered curtly. This world’s Steven looked at his counterpart’s child. The young adult looked like him though he also looked like someone else in particular. Steven ignored the painful feeling of that thought.

Chase looked stunned and surprised ever since this “other Steven” came in. He was also worried. It was a shock seeing Alex again after so long even though the man didn’t age a bit. Things were cleared up somewhat when another version of his dad came in. This clarification also made Chase worry for a few reasons. One there was a world where he didn’t exist which was freaky. Two, neither he nor his dad were home which would cause his siblings and mom to worry. Three and most importantly was Chase’s perspective of this Steven. This guy had a cold, tired, and angry demeanor. His eyes also seemed dull and almost lifeless. It was weird seeing any Steven like this. Even back when his dad was Dr. Two Brains it wasn’t this bad. Dr. Two Brains was evil and grumpy but he was still happy and invigorated. His dad also had similar thoughts about this other Steven. “Oh that is great, where is she?” Chase’s dad asked his counterpart, hoping to break the ice between his other self. “She’s in the car. I’ll bring her inside since you two aren’t a threat.” Steven bluntly remarked before he went back outside to let Mouse know it was okay to come inside. Steven temporarily left Bob and the other three men in the living room in an awkward atmosphere. “So…other me is kind of a blunt person.” Steven remarked awkwardly to Alex. The hero only let out a sigh, his face solemn. “Yeah unfortunately he has been like that ever since the accident.” Alex remarked. This caused Chase and his dad’s heads to snap towards Alex’s direction quickly. “Wait, are you talking about the incident with the mind reading device? That already happened here!” Steven asked in surprise. Alex nodded. “But that doesn’t make sense!” Chase remarked. “This version of my dad still looks like he used to before the accident. He doesn’t look like he had gotten fused to Squeaky at all!” Alex looked surprised at the information, though judging this other Steven’s look, he could tell why they were baffled. Alex then looked at them with a sad expression. “I don’t know exactly what happened in your world, but in this one….my Steven wasn’t the one who had gotten fused to Squeaky. You will find out who did though.” Alex responded albeit a bit cryptically.

Meanwhile, unbeknownst to the three men, Squeaky had taken this moment to leap out of Steven’s pocket and head towards the refrigerator. Squeaky had no idea what kind of crazy shenanigans was going on. Squeaky smelt cheese coming from the fridge. Squeaky definitely needed some cheese after the day he had.

The mouse crawled closer to inspect the fridge. Giving his time spent living with the stupid man and his family the mouse has picked up a few skills to get to the cheese. While his former host had no longer been fused with him, Squeaky knew he couldn't just stop eating the dairy product. Which worked in Squeaky's favor.

This fridge has handles which made it easier for him to get to the savory snack.

The rodent fugitive climbed up the table. Bracing himself to leap into the fridge handles....

Both Chase and Steven were confused and worried by Alex’s cryptic response. They had no idea what to expect. Steven didn’t know how to feel about the idea that someone had gotten fused to Squeaky instead of himself. ‘Is that why my counterpart is as cheerful as a dog taking a flea bath?” Steven wondered. He and Chase would soon have their answers when the other Steven came back with…”Becky?” Steven exclaimed aloud in shock. The girl standing near his counterpart did indeed look like his Becky, but there were obvious differences. One was that this Becky had white streaks mixed with her usual brown hair. Her eyes were now pink/red rather than her usual brown. This version of his daughter also had whiskers and a mouse tail along with hands that were covered with white fur and fingernails that were now morphed into tiny claws. The most notable difference with this Becky was the pink mouse brain protruding out of her head. A slow and horrific realization came to Chase and Steven’s minds. It wasn’t this world’s Steven that had gotten fused to Squeaky, but rather Becky was the one who suffered his fate. “Becky” only further confirmed his analysis when the little girl’s face scrunched up to an annoyed glare. “My name is Mouse.” Mouse angrily exclaimed as she folded her arms in a huff. ‘And there it is.’ Steven summarized, the identity change that came with being fused to a vicious rodent. His other counterpart just gave them an apologetic shrug and patted his daughter’s head to calm her down. Steven took another good look at his counterpart. He could see how tired and exhausted this guy was. There was a faint gleam of care directed towards Mouse but other than that, there was nothing but sadness and emptiness in this other Steven’s eyes. Steven felt deep sympathy for his counterpart. He couldn’t imagine what would happen if any of his children went through what he did. He decided to help alleviate some of his counterpart’s stress. “I’m sorry about that Mouse.” Steven apologized, ignoring the weird feeling of calling any version of his daughter by another name that wasn’t a nickname. “You just happen to look like my daughter whose name is Becky.” Steven half lied. He knew it wasn’t a good idea to argue about identity issues with Squeaky present. Mouse stared at Steven for a moment before letting out a sigh. “Alright I accept your apology.” Mouse stated as she let her arms drop in a relaxed expression. Mouse didn’t know what to think of the situation. She became a bit worried when her dad didn’t immediately come back out. She was about to go in after him and help deal with whatever trouble was happening when her dad finally came back out. He seemed to be contemplating something. Mouse was surprised when he told her that an alternate version of him and his son apparently wound up in their world by accident. Mouse was surprised and curious now. She wanted to meet another version of her dad and someone who was her brother from another world. Her dad brought her inside. She was annoyed at first when this alternate version of her dad called her Becky but he did apologize for it so she let it slide. She was intrigued by his appearance though. This version of her dad has a full beard and mustache. He also had a ponytail and white hair mixed with brown hair, a bit like her. This version of her dad also had eyes that were a different color and whiskers like she did. He also smelt like he was part mouse, a bit like Squeaky. What stood out to Mouse was how this man seemed happy and bright, like how her dad used to be. The other male who looked older and taller than her sort of looked like a combination of her dad and Alex. She didn’t like how the boy seemed to stare at her with a horrific look. He didn’t look terrified of her but rather shocked and sad with how she looked. It unnerved her a bit. @wordgirlnextgen

"strangely I wasn't even intending to do multidimensional traveling." Steven says still pondering about their teleportation mishap. He felt a mixture of awe and horror. Awe at how things are different and the variables. Horror that his fate was given to his counterparts child in this investigation. He would be lying if it didn't give him a feel of his old self. Caught in a groundbreaking discovery.

suddenly a crash came from the kitchen before anyone else could say anything.

Out of instinct, the scientist looked around for a certain rodent. It became second nature to him whenever he heard a crash or ruckus that it was no other than Squeaky being the cause of it.

"wait where's...." Steven trailed off. Checking his pockets he realized squeaky was gone. He grimaced. "Oh great."

Though Alex wondered if that may help break the state of mind Steven was in right now. Alex shook that though out of the way and turned his head towards the door as he heard it open. Well it was time to get this over with. "Okay Steven we need to have a serious chat right....oh uh...hello there. Can I help you with something?" Alex asked, stunned and taken aback that not Steven, but two random strangers walked into this house. Though judging by their expressions, the two strangers seemed just as shocked to see Alex there as he was to see them.

The three of them stood there in a unspoken game of statues. No doubt trying to wrap their minds around who they were seeing.

To say there was emotional baggage,wouldn't be a complete lie. Last time Steven had seen. Alex in person has to be five years ago. Didn't look like he aged a day.

"Alex, what are you doing here?" Steven asked, speaking up first. He kept his tone neutral his confusion was evident on his face however.

Alex looked surprised at the man's question. This guy sounded like Steven but he didn't look like him. This man had a ponytail along with a beard and mustache. The Steven he knew just had a small beard. There was also a mix of white along with brown in this person's hair. He and the other young man also had heterochromia. Something his Steven didn't. Though Alex couldn't help but stare at this person's eyes a bit. This man had a gaze that was hauntingly reminiscent of the Steven he knew before the accident. That lively gaze as well as a spark in his eyes. Something Alex had missed. Alex also noted the young man next to the other guy. His hair and eyes, his facial expression, they were almost like.... Alex shook his head. Pushing that thought out of his mind, no matter how much longing he felt from that idea. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to space out." Alex apologized to the two. Both who were still looking at him with shocked and uneasy expressions. This bothered Alex. The man said his name, he obviously knew who he was, yet Alex never saw this guy before. So why was there a sense of familiarity about him.? Alex decided to answer the guy's question, maybe even as one of his own. "Well I am here waiting for the owner of the house to return so we can have a talk. Do you two have a reason to see Steven Boxleitner?" Alex asked. Steven became alarmed and troubled when he saw the door to his house opened. He only knew of a few people who had a key to his home and Jenkins was still at the labs. Emily and Victor were likely still working so that left one person he did not want to see right now. It puzzled Steven though, if Alex was here he would have not left the door open like that. "Mouse honey, stay in the car." Steven directed his daughter. Mouse nodded though she immediately had a worried look based on her dad's expression and tone of voice. Steven parked his car in front of his house, then he along with Bob slowly and cautiously walked to the front door. Both of them preparing to handle what was on the other side. Steven peeked in and was met with a confusing sight. Alex was there which confirmed his suspicions, but there were two other people there. Not just any two people, but the civilians he met earlier as Wordman. Steven could tell that he walked into a bizarre conversation as all three men had a mix of confused and uneasy looks on their face as they were chatting. Well Steven wanted to know why they were here and what their business was so he decided to make himself known. "Excuse me who are you and what are you doing in my house?" Steven demanded, causing the three to jump and turn around face him. @wordgirlnextgen

"you house-" Steven's words cut off as his eyes widened. There standing in the doorway scowling was HIM.

Wait Alex looking not a day older than the last time he saw him...and seeing himself....his past self....

But that couldn't be... he didn't recall this day ever happening...

Sure his mind has been nearly scrambled from fusing with squeaky but his mind still remained sharp as ever. It didn't make sense.

There had to be a logic explanation to this.

"dad?" His son's words snapped him back to reality. He stood upright coming to a half conclusion of what was happen right the now. "You may not believe this...but I'm you, Steven." He says to his other self. "A different you. Now I'm not sure completely how this is happening...but I have a hunch it has to do with the machine I've been working on..."

He just couldn't get the masked hero out of his head. Something about those cold blue eyes screamed familiarity to Steven. But he couldn't put his finger on it.

from his research of Lexiconians, blue wasn't an eye color that they had naturally. Usually reds, brown/hazel and yellow. He had done this after incident with Becky. Not wanting to be caught off guard for any possible other changes and misadventurers. While normal for his daughter's alien side, it was foreign and unpredictable for the boxleitner family.

Maybe the hero has been a hybrid like her. There was so many questions, the formal villain had. Judging from Chase's face, he could see his eldest was pondering about the earlier events as well.

"Let's just go inside and try to find out what exactly happened first before we do anything else kiddo." Steven stated. Chase nodded though he was still thinking about earlier events. Maybe it would be a good idea to clear their heads and at least hand Squeaky back to Blu before they could learn more about this "Wordman". Chase and Steven walked inside, ignoring the oddness of the unlocked door as they both figured it was either Blu or Becky who left it open. None of the men, not even Squeaky who was still in Steven's pocket, expected an all too familiar face standing in their living room. Alex was pissed at Steven right now. Extremely pissed. This was seriously getting out of hand. He knew Steven had issues with the mouse which were justified. He also had these issues with villains which were much less okay. Now he has gone too far. According to Lady Redundant Woman and the other freaked out villains he had visited in jail today, Wordman nearly went off on an odd citizen because they had brought up Wordgirl.
