Titanic
While watching the movie Titanic, I found myself completely unable to understand why it is considered such an icinic romantic film. I am horrified by the tragedy and the sheer number of people who perished on that ship—by the terror and the despair of it all. Instead of empathizing with real mothers who lost their children, or with people who jumped into freezing water out of despair, the viewer is made to weep over whether or not Leo would have fit on the wooden door. We are sold selfish, utterly immature actions under the guise of "pure and eternal love." The film glorifies infantilism.
