Maybe it was his chubby cheeks. Or his constant smiles. Or his endearing demeanour. Yes, that must be it. Soonyoung has heard about how endearing he is countless times. That would explain why you never saw him as a man.

Okay, maybe he was being a bit too dramatic. But honestly, could you blame him?

It took him years of pining and being just a friend to finally get you to become his girlfriend (it still felt so surreal to him that he got lightheaded if he thought too much about it) and you never took him seriously!

He’s showing off this dance he choreographed to you and he only got 6 steps in before you were giggling at him and cooing about how adorable he was.

You were deciding on dinner together and he puffed his cheeks out, trying to explain why you both should be eating corndogs instead of pasta only to get his cheeks squished together and still being made to eat carbonara!

Could he ever win!?

And don’t get him wrong, he loves you with everything in him, his full heart and his whole soul. He adores the way your pretty face lights up and the feeling of your soft hands on his cheeks. He feels like floating every time your honeyed voice praises his cuteness and your perfect lips pressed kisses all over his face.

It was just that sometimes Soonyoung wished you found him manly. He wished that you saw that he was more than just a cute face and maybe feed his masculinity a bit. Like how you compliment Mingyu on his ever growing physique and tease Seungcheol about how long he spends at the gym. Not that he was jealous of course, Soonyoung knew that you meant those comments in a platonic way, he just wished you saw him in a similar light.

He was so deep in thought that he didn’t notice the front door open, you walking through with bags of groceries and your cellphone pressed between your shoulder and your ear.

He sits up from where he was laying down on the couch to look at you as you kicked the door shut with your feet and gave him a pretty smile before saying goodbye to your mother on the phone before stuffing it into your jean pocket.

Soonyoung gets up and walks towards you, grabbing the bags from your hand as you remove your shoes and slide your coat off your shoulders. You press a quick kiss to his cheek and attach yourself to him, your mouth pressed into the back of his shoulder through the fabric of his t-shirt.

“Hi baby,” you say, your voice muffled by his shoulder and the broad grin you were sporting. Soonyoung grins, placing the bags of groceries on the marble counter before turning and looking at you, head tilted. “Hey.”

You look up at him, chin tucked in his chest, your eyes wide and sparkling. You poke at one of his cheeks and Soonyoung’s smile falters but he quickly brings it back to normal and begins walking you both to the couch. “Why don’t you sit down while I put the groceries away?” 

You blink then nod and all but collapse on the couch, sighing loudly as you place your feet on top of one of the throw pillows sitting idly near the armrest. Soonyoung giggles before he catches himself and clears his throat, letting out what he hopes to be a manly chuckle. He didn’t see the way your head lifted up, looking at him confused.

“Work wasn’t great today?” He asked, opening the fridge to place a carton of milk on the shelves. “Horrible actually,” you correct, wiggling upwards to recline your head on the armrest.

He hums as he finishes putting all the groceries away and walks towards the couch to join you. He knelt on the ground in front of you, watching your nose scrunch up adorably. You peck his lips once. Then twice. And by the third time, he wanted more.

He caught your wrist in his hand and brought it to his lips, nipping lightly at the skin. “You gonna kiss me properly or what?” His voice was husky, his eyes half-lidded as he stared at you, lips still brushing your wrist. Soonyoung was the epitome of pure sexiness.

Or so he thought…

Cause before he could even process it, you were squealing and cupping his face, bringing it closer to your own so that you could press sticky lipgloss kisses to his cheeks which were now burning, not from being flustered, but from pure embarrassment.

“My baby,” you wail, pinching his cheeks before squishing them together, one of your hands on either cheek as you place kisses on his pouty lips. “You want kisses? I’ll give you kisses baby, oohhh soo cute!”

Soonyoung opened his mouth to speak but was once again cut off by you shushing him and kissing his lips over and over again. He sighed before he took your face in his large hands and forced you to sit still, looking up at him.

“Before you give me any more kisses, answer me this,” he said, watching you blink with confusion before nodding. “Am I manly?” 

Your lips twist and your eyes squint. It was obvious that you were surprised and puzzled, most likely wondering where this was coming from. “Manly?” He nods, awaiting your answer.

“Um… yeah you’re manly, honey.” He blinks, wanting more. “Like? Examples? How am I manly?”

Your lips part before curving into a small smile as you stifle a giggle. You’ve probably figured it out now but Soonyoung doesn’t care as long as you keep talking.

“Well,” you say, sitting up a little higher as you trace your fingers down his biceps. “You’ve got such nice, strong muscles. Every time we cuddle, they wrap around me so firmly, like you’d hate it if I ever got up and left.” His breathing hitched and his smile widened as he scooted a little closer towards you. If he was a dog, he’s pretty sure you’d be able to see his tail wagging excitedly.

“And you’re so husband coded, the way you always hold my bags, even if it’s a cute purse and how you always place your hand on my thigh while you drive. I also love how you dance baby, the way you move…”

You smile cheekily, choosing to leave the sentence unfinished and Soonyoung thinks he might die. “Okay, okay, that's enough examples for now,  just come kiss me,” he whines as you laugh and kiss him sweetly.

“Cute,” you murmur into his lips and this time, Soonyoung doesn’t really mind.
