The truck came to a stop and the engine died. Arvin slumped back in his seat with a sigh. His bloody fists gripped the steering wheel tightly as he stared through the dash window. Y/n turned her body towards the boy next her and placed her hand on his shoulder.
“Arvin, you didn’t have to do that for me, you know?” She scooted herself closer to Arvin and grabbed the piece of cloth from the glove box. Y/n getting grabbed his right hand and began cleaning each knuckle.
“M always gonna protect ya, y/n” He placed a small and gentle kiss on her cheek. “For as long as I live.” Y/n’s ears burned and her lips tugged into a grin.
“I love you, Arvin.” She nuzzled her face into his jacket, taking in his scent. Y/n listened as raindrops fell on the roof of the beaten down truck. Arvin’s heartbeat soothed her anxieties about what had just happened.
Arvin ran his fingertips through Y/n’s hair and kisses her temple. “I love ya too, darling.”
Y/n looked up at the dark-haired boy and kissed his lips softly. Their lips moulded together and she smiled into the kiss. Her heartbeat always sped up when they kissed. She loved this boy with her whole being and she prayed every night that he was safe.
Y/n pulled away from the kiss and grinned. Arvin’s eyebrow raised and tilted his head to the side,
“Whatcha thinkin’, baby?” He asked, his fingers tucking a strain of hair behind her ear.
“Just that ‘m lucky to have you.” She nuzzled her nose against his and pecked his lips. Arvin chuckled and pulled her closer. He rested his head on top of hers and sighed,
“M lucky to have ya too, baby.”
