Ok, there's this constant issue in every fandom/fanbase/whatever you call it I've been in actively. Now—I'm gonna be extremely honest. If you feel attacked I don't retain myself responsible of your discomfort, and if nothing, it's the sign it's time to fix yer attitude.

Anyway, back to the hot stuff!

I've been a fan of a few works in my life (voluntarily). Because my interest is hardly ever piqued, therefore I'm extremely picky whenever it comes to pieces of media. In each of them there has always been an outstanding kind of narrative, paired with complex characters/characters dynamics worthy of an all-you-can-eat buffet.

HOWEVER—this is where the issue floats to the surface.

While the piece of media was absolutely MYSTICAL in terms of narrative, the people who would follow it were. Well. The kind you would rather lose than meet, if you know what I mean. The genre that only cares about the "shipping", sexualizes literal PIXELS, fetishizes same-gender relationships, shows extreme misogyny towards female characters, and the list goes on and on.

And, you see, this kind of ruins the experience after a while.

I'm not saying that the concept of shipping two characters is wrong, god forbid.

As long as you don't jump others over an opinion and don't bristle over a character that isn't even real, you're absolutely okay and 300% worth of my respect.

I'm saying this because recently I've been encountering a shit-load of literal kids (at heart seemingly. They might even be grown ass people, but I refrain to dwell on this thought because I care about my cardio) over-reacting over the most normal bullshit—that is, opinions.

The most basic ones.

"I don't like A like you do, I prefer B" ohh, burn the witch! The horror, the disgust! Son, who the Hell do you think you are? If I were to build a castle out of your delusions it would hit the fucking stars and make the Moon weep.

I get (×2) that people have their own head-canons for the sake of laughs and giggles — again, GOD FORBID.

However, it gets to a point.

Not everybody might share the same views and you know, that should be the beauty of it. How each one of us interprets things differently.

You don't like this? Take a breath, soft block and move on. It's just another day in Paradise. No need to prod em to a stake. That is stupid, pointless and vaguely petty.

Also don't get me started on the misogyny, I beg of you.

There's nothing that pisses me off more than this.

People have the nerve to saunter forward and go, "ahem, waiter! give me a soft female character!" and as soon as it happens?

Ewww, annoying. Boo. Tomato tomato.

Now let's flip the switch—you want a mean, badass female character? Utter psycho, no mercy whatsoever? Complex character arcs doubled with tenfold-as complicated personality?...

"Yes!" then, what do you do? Spew nonsense. Of course.

Hate on said character while if it were a man you'd be drooling worse than Pavlov's dog.

Your hypocrisy would incinerate Pompeii all over again, just do you know.

Then, back to the shipping!

Mostly, bl/gl ones.

I'm gonna say it loud and clear, I love them.

Fyi there used to be a ship in particular I would invest all my time on hyperfixating when I was a pre-teen.

Now I can't stand seeing it anymore because, you know.

Pedantics? I'd love to say that.

Trust me, I would adore saying that it was merely a phase I grew out of and decided to shed away as time passed.

But it wasn't. Because as I gew more into writing and character analysis, I started to realize the amount of mischaracterization that happens just for the sake of people wanting to see two women/two men together.

And then this happens—who's the top, who's the bottom?

You can have your preference, stand by fixed pairs.

However that doesn't give you the right to whoop the ass of whoever prefers B×A instead of A×B, and neither gives you the right to spit venom at them and flinging terms such as "misogynistic" and so on.

Man I kid you not—I'll be honest yet again right here.

If I REALLY have to choose (I hate this sexual bullshit I'll be frank with you all), I prefer when the "soft" character is seen as the one in charge.

I stumbled over a jerk saying that peers who share the same view as me are misogynistic when, mind you, daisy, they were the SAME ONE who would femminize the "bottom" of the relationship, making him look like a smitten- butterfly y/n puddle-of-goo when in canon he was so cruel and prideful——at this point if you'd spat into my face I'd have taken it as a way classier insult.

And oh, this gets even worse when aforementioned jerk wasn't even attracted to men at all and started drawing NSFW of said ship as soon as they turned 18, if not EARLIER.

You see what I mean, now? I no longer see them drawing platonic or simply SFW interactions between the ship and I'm mourning like a fucking widow on a sinking cruise right now because the sheer loss of potential I had to witness in real time honestly scarred my fucking soul.

So, in conclusion... I hope.

Nothing pisses me off more than misogyny overall, mischaracterization/sexualization/fetishization of same-gender dynamics and immature behavior over a ship.

You have your own head-canons and preferences?

Good—your own joy matters.

You encounter somebody who doesn't agree?

Swallow the pill.

Don't throw accusations.

Don't use big words just for the sake of feeling strong and in control, because you might encounter someone who's far more stubborn, smarter, and way angrier than you are.

And when it happens it's not gonna be pretty.

Avoid dramas like a good citizen, loiter in your lane.

Nothing easier.

And, again, if you feel attacked?

That's a problem. Sorry, but—jumping in the defensive over mere preferences like you just got shot?... Yeah.
