it’s so fascinating how the "adult human female" crowd is always the first to claim they’re fighting against stereotypes while simultaneously reducing womanhood to a static, biological checklist… you’re literally just reinventing the same patriarchal essentialism you claim to hate. like, if your entire radical analysis of gender can be simplified to a dictionary definition used by conservative politicians to strip people of their autonomy, maybe it’s time to realize your "coherent definition" is just a tool for exclusion, not liberation. you aren't "defining" womanhood, you're just policing it.
Oh look, someone else who doesn’t understand how words work!
To be a woman means to be an adult human female. So yes, that is based on what sex you are. Your biology.
But that doesn’t mean that we’re reducing women down to biology! To reduce someone to their biology means that you see them as nothing more than their biology. Women can be anything: teachers and politicians and doctors and lawyers and comedians. Women are more than their biology. But a woman is a woman because of their biology.
Defining the word isn’t the reason that women were stripped of our rights by men. Would you argue the same thing of gay people or black people or disabled people? Defining the word gave us the tool to speak about the group who were discriminated against the the common characteristic that is shared among us. The very thing we were discriminated for - our sex.
Definitions don’t have to include everyone, funnily enough. It’s far more important to allow groups to coherently define their groups and the common characteristics between them than to allow the inclusion of everyone. Again I ask if you would argue the same thing of gay people or black people or disabled people? I imagine not, because you actually respect their struggles while you want women to stay silent for the sake of appeasing men.
It shouldn’t surprise me that the group of people who can’t coherently define words also manipulate words.
And yes, I did notice that you refused to include a definition of woman in your message. That’s literally the only thing this blog asks for and you couldn’t provide. You’re only talking down to me because you know I’m right.
