For Transmasc Allies: Alternatives to âHandsomeâ
I made this list because, for a lot of trans guys, 'handsomeâ makes up 90% of the compliments we get, and can become overused and lose its meaning for us, even if it comes from a genuine place. donât get me wrong, handsome is a lovely word (and I personally like it a lot), but there are plenty more validating masculine complimentary words out there you can use for your transmasc friends/relatives/partners !!
Instead of just 'handsomeâ, try also using:
- dashing
- distinguished
- dreamy
- spiffy
- sharp
- charming
- sleek
- sunny
- chipper
- suave
- dapper
- grand
- regal / kingly / princely / knightly
(and some silly ones:)
- hunky
- macho
- boyfriend material / husband material
- fiery / Flaminâ Hot (be careful with âflamingâ tho - can be used as a gay slur)
(note: ofc these terms can be used for anyone regardless of gender, I just included them if I felt they seemed more masculine or had a traditionally masculine usage. feel free to add or correct!)
âGood luck, Xavierâ charm! Like to charge/reblog to cast!
Because we do NOT want Xavier to die on this first or second episode. đ¤đŞ
EMOTIONS OUT OF CONTROL? (signal boost this!!)
Hereâs some food for thoughtâŚ
DISTRACTION & SELF-SOOTHING TECHNIQUESÂ
1. Leave - step away from the current stressor physically.
2. Activities - shopping, movies, cooking, haircut, photography, writing?
3. Thinking - fantasies, sexual thoughts, fictional stories?
4. Chores - clean house, redecorate, reorganize, yard-work?
5. Counting - breaths, tiles on the wall, lines on the sidewalk, leaves on a tree?
6. Smells - incense, scented candles, fresh flowers?
7. Sounds - books on tape, the outdoors/nature sounds, music, television?
8. Taste - favorite food, ice cream, ice cubes, fruit, gum/candy?
9. Touch - comfortable clothing, warm water, massage, stress ball?
ALTERNATIVES TO SELF-HARMING
Hold an ice cube in one hand and squeeze it tight - this sensation should create a numbing effect and distract you from your pain.
Write on your wrist (or wherever you self harm) with a red felt-tip marker instead of cutting - draw in the same area you would cut and use red to simulate bleeding without actually breaking the skin.
Donât be afraid to CRY - this releases stress hormones [ which are good for you ] and eventually you will stop crying and likely feel better.
Write letters to the people who have wronged you. As explicitly as you can describe what they did to you and why you hate them. Keep the letters for later review or tear them up and throw them away.Â
Scream face-down in a pillow or scrunched up blanket. [ be sure to tell family/room-mates if you plan using this as a distraction technique so that they donât come running to your room every time ]
RADICAL ACCEPTANCE -Â âIT HAS HAPPENED, I HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT.â
* this does not mean you agree with or support bad behavior in others
Getting angry or upset about a situation stops you from seeing what is really happening. Have you ever heard the statement, âblinded by rageâ? This often happens to people with overwhelming emotions. Criticizing yourself and being overly judgmental of situations is a lot like wearing sunglasses indoors - youâre missing the details and not seeing everything as it really is. By getting angry and thinking that a situation never should have happened youâre missing the point - it did happen and you do have to deal with it. Additionally, you canât change the past, and spending large quantities of your time fighting with the past - this is the equivalent to wishful thinking that your current anger will change the outcome of something thatâs already happened. Youâll begin to feel paralyzed and helpless in this case and nothing will have the chance to improve.Â
Adapted from The DBT Skills Workbook, Matthew McKay, 2007
This is from a handout my last psychiatrist gave me. I figured I would share it for anyone who needs it.Â
sometimes i forget how many times iâve picked myself off the floor, how many times iâve washed away smudgy makeup and put myself to bed. how many times iâve said no to something unhealthy. said yes to something good. how many times iâve treated myself with kindness and patience. i forget how many times iâve tended to wounds and made peace with my own anger. if i was taking care of a body that was not my own, iâd believe i was doing everything i could. so hereâs to remembering that iâm doing the best i can.

itâs hard to âstop trying to be someone youâre notâ when you donât know who you really are
There are two types of borderlines:
1) I become clingy because Iâm afraid youâll leave.
2) I become distant because Iâm afraid youâll leave.
Disappear for some time, work on yourself, return unrecognizable.
im sorry to everyone who has ever tried to talk to me and then realized my communication skills are equivalent to a stale piece of bread
CRYSTALS FOR WITCHES W/ BPD!!!
Hello! Recently Iâve been struggling with my bpd, and thought Iâd turn to some crystals that may help me cope with it a little easier. Of course these are not the only crystals that can help, but these are just the ones I own.
Lepidolite
Has a calming effect. Promotes self-love, trust, and honesty; helps relieve depression, anger and anxiety, as well as other mental illnesses!
Do not soak in water!
Angelite
Brings peace, serenity, has a calming effect. Can help bring openness in a relationship. Also can help with infections and headaches!
Do not soak in water!
Calcite
Clears negative energy, calms mind, alleviates stress, enhances personal growth. It is a very very very purifying stone! Can improve relationships and help maintain a balance. (I think it would help with a relationship with your FP if you have one!)
Do not soak in water!
Malachite
Positive transformation, in this case I think of helping overcome bpd. Promotes faithfulness in partners. When you have feelings of âwell this person must want me dead because ____ ____ ____â, it can help you remember that no! They donât want you dead, they love you and want you around! Can also help counter self-destructive tendencies in a romantic relationship.
Do not soak in water!
Bloodstone
Healing energy. Helps control stress and anxiety. Helps control anger and calm fears.
Do not soak in water!
*I recommend cleansing these crystals by burying them, setting in moonlight, or using another crystal, such as selenite. These are all water soluble and can be potentially harmful if soaked!*
So these are my few stones! If you have any more info to add or other crystals you think can help with bpd, feel free to!Â

Fall Witchcraft
Some tips for witchy things to do in the fall. Feel free to add! Hereâs part 2 the one about summer witchcraft
.
.
đ Collect rainwater. Be careful with consumption, it can be filthy or sour
đ Redecorate your altar with oranges, browns, and dark greens
đ Enchant your umbrella to deflect negative energy
đ Tea, tea, and more tea! Enchant it, drink it, practice tasseography (divination)
đ Make spell jars with leaves, acorns, rocks, and other things you find
đ Harvest if you grow herbs
đ Keep spending time outside, even if itâs chilly. Remember to dress according to the weather
đ Do tons of cleansing and meditation. Itâs not unlikely that youâre stressed during the fall, youâre in between summer break and winter break, there might be a lot going on at work. Remember to take breaks and treat yourself once in a while
đ Celebrate Mabon and Samhain
đ Not really a magick activity but have a movie night with blankets and hot chocolate or tea, itâs so cozy. Make it a part of a witchy sleep over if youâd like
đ Bake pies
đ CANDLES INCENSE BUUURN THEM ALL
đ Read about witchcraft, and learn new spells
đ Orange peels and cinnamon sticks. On your altar, in jars. Just orange peels and cinnamon sticks, man
đ Enchant sweaters to be extra protective and cozy
đ Make a sachet
đ If youâre living somewhere cooler, youâll probably be wearing a jacket. That jacket might have pockets. Put a talisman, a crystal, or a something in one of those pockets. Something you can hold on to whenever youâre insecure
đ Even though itâs getting darker and colder, remember to stay active. Cook, clean, draw, sew, dance, read, see friends, do spells, and most important of all: take care of yourself

đđđž Harvest Moonđžđđ
what is the harvest moon?
đ It is the full moon that is seen nearest to the time of the autumnal equinox, the full moon of september. It is sometimes called the the âChrysanthemum Moonâ, âG*psy Moonâ, âElk Moonâ, âSinging Moon,â and âWine Moonâ. It is followed by the hunterâs moon.
what does that mean for witchcraft?
đ This is the time for completion. Anything you have left undone or overdue, this is the time to wrap it up. Tie loose ends and trim the fat. As we approach the end of the year, itâs a time to ready a clean slate for the new year. Â
đž This is the time to collect debts and crops, to reap the efforts you have put in, take what you are owed. Some take this advice to mean to serve just desserts to those that have wronged them.
đ There is more moonlight during this full moon, as it rises earlier and appears to stay full for multiple days, which can be used for multiple-night full moon rituals.Â
đ The spells best for a full moon are charging/cleansing crystals and items, healing, love magic, banishing, and clarity of mind.
The High Priestess.
Listen to your inner voice. Trust the words spoken by your heart. Focus on self awareness. Do not be mislead by a waking world. Follow your subconscious. Be mindful of your dreams and symbols that may normally go unseen. The enlightened mind is one that chooses to share knowledge, it does not use knowledge solely for self serving purposes.
