DOL challenge

Your WoL/D is sent on a “disciple of land” challenge to gather the rarest species (timed nodes) from all over the globe. The idea is a universal effort to help repopulate the rarest species.

How well does your warrior accept this challenge? Do they feel it’s worthwhile? Would they see it as a fair effort toward conservation or just another objective to accomplish?

What hesitations might they have about this particular project? How might it hurt contemporary ecological conditions? Do they believe there’s a reason why some species or ore that is difficult to find due to evolutionary change or is it something that is purely the fault of sentient species?

How does your warrior assist in the restoration research process or do they opt out entirely?

Routines

We all have a routine. When we wake up, when we get out of bed, our grooming habits, eating habits, and how we progress throughout the day. Even if it’s not the same as other people l; it’s habit for us.

What about your WoL/D? What is their daily routine? Does it structure their whole day? Do they wake up with the sun or snooze until noon? Are they more of a nocturnal soul and progress more so during the evening hours?

What happens if this routine is knocked off kilter? Do they develop insomnia if they know they have to wake up earlier than usual? Do they forget to eat breakfast if the schedule changes?

What about when exploring a new area on foot? Does their routine adapt to the local wildlife or do they always make sure to sleep in a sanctuary?

How much does your warrior rely on the familiarity of their routine? What happens if it’s changed slightly versus drastically? How do they adapt? What would throw them off so much that they could not function properly?

Hot bath, hot shower, hot springs; where does your WoL/D prefer to bathe?

Are they comfortable out in the wilds or in a public bath? Else, do they prefer the privacy of an inn room or the added security of their own home?

How detailed is their routine? Do they prefer a quick bathe or do they take their time? How often do they take the opportunity for an “everything” shower or bath?

What about after a battle when they’re a little dirtier than usual. How soon do they go wash off the battlefield and what’s their preferred method for getting rid of the battlefield grime?

Overall, how hygienic is your warrior? How does this change from place to place? What’s one time when this routine was interrupted and possibly drove your warrior a little bit mad?

Is there a speech or run of dialogue that lives rent free in your head?

Something beyond Van Bailsar, Haruchafaunt or the Griffon. A line or set of dialog that, to you as a writer, is iconic in its own way; even if it doesn’t have its own meme.

Why does this stick in your head and have you ever referenced it in your writing? How does this work relate to your WoL/D as a whole?

If you were to base a one shot fiction off of this what would the genre be? Horror, romance, ironic comedy? How versatile could you make this sailing and how might it change your warriors story?

What does your WoL/D do when it’s raining outside? Do they let it bother them? Are they the type to go singing in the rain?

Would a dark cloud or squall hinder their progress?

Are they the kind of soul that are constantly followed by little black rain clouds? Do they prefer sunny days and clear skies? What might happen if they were caught up in a hurricane? How easy is it for them to seek or build a storm proof shelter in the wilds?

What precautions do they take with their gear to make sure that everything stays water tight? How well do they swim?

Your WoL/D is commissioned to create a mural, or other type of focused display (short of an altar) to your favorite Scion. They are given free rein to decorate as they see fit, however… the theme must stick within the major color palette of that Scions known wardrobe.

For instance, while G’raha has red, black, white, and gold with accents of blue… Y’shtola would have blue, white, and black. Thancred would have grey, white, silver and green. So on, so forth.

How does your warrior commemorate their friendship within their colors? Where would this display be made and shown? How limited does the color palette make their creation? What advantages would the metallic and/or jewel tone accents give?

What would happen if this Scions found out about said artwork? In your mind is this Scion humble enough to be embarrassed? Would they be proud of the piece or shy away? What would your warrior ask for in payment for such a task?

Soken has always told us that the best way to experience the rich sound environment is to wear headphones and crank the sound all the way up.

While the music is peak performance and enriches our experience, there are some sounds that truly traumatize us.

From duty finder to the slopeeeh sounds of certain villains.

Knowing that our WoL/D cannot hear these sounds in their own heads; what sounds have you heard in your mind while writing their legacy? What simple split second noises have anchored their existence in your world so much that you hear them in your sleep?

Are you brave (or crazy) enough to put any of these sounds out into your world on a permanent basis? Is this something you’ve already done even if just to share the trauma with others and pinpoint those already affected in a crowd?

As a warrior we are a fair collector of shiny stabby implements. As a warrior of many talents that collection grows with however many jobs we take on.

Which one is your warriors favorite and which is yours? For example, with Griever while I like as a gamer prefer the revolver Gunblade; it’s classic and simple. Griever prefers the fae’s crown Gunblade.

Do they have a separate favorite for each job or do they go with a singular collection? Does their glam ever built around a new favorite? How often does their favorite change?

Keeping in mind that we have super speed, teleportation, understand any language, speak any language, invisibility (if you’re a Ninja or have the Exarch around), and super strength. Not to mention, an extent of immortality and skills that could be considered inhuman strength.

Would they have Midas touch? Fly with / without wings and no mount? Transfiguration? Summoning objects from other places into their grasp? Talking to animals?

What would be the advantage of this superpower and how often would they use it?

What disadvantages might it have?

How would this superpower aid them in their role as savior of the realms?

Do you, as a writer, stick to the regional themes as presented by the MSQ?

How deep has your research gone in order to keep it authentic?

For instance in Kugane the theme is heavily eastern, even going so far as to mention religious and cultural traditions that differ than those in who are or once were European colonies.

In Tural most of the cultures reflect lower North America and upper South America without mentioning much about Aztec or North American indigenous culture.

Did you research more into the significance of this particular theme or stick to the simple references that were provided by the MSQ? How in depth did you dive as an author for the sake of authenticity?

With our travels taking us all over the world and exposing us to various types of cuisine; what culture has become your WoL/Ds favorite?

What attracts them to this culinary style? Is it something that they can easily replicate on the road? What lengths do they often go to when craving said recipes? Are they a frequent visitor to the region just to sample new variations of their favorites?

Or is their favorite style of home cooking something that is more traditional where they grew up? Unfortunately their road this far has taken them so far away that they haven’t had the opportunity to return for some time and no one else seems to come close with their rendition?

Different shards, same faces, shards of the same souls.

We’re rejoined 7 times, the only being that has more of their original soul than or equal to us is G’raha Tia, having lived through a rejoining with the 8th Umbral Calamity while locked away in the crystal tower and surviving. Both he and we have 9 shards rejoined to others 8.

How has your WoL/D handled the idea that there’s another version of themselves out there? That this shard may look nothing like us. Despite the idea that our past selves who lived as Azem may or may not be a direct ancestor and of the same race, this other shard may take on a wildly different variation.

The same can be said for shards of other souls we have come across on our journey.

How might they and their version of the Scions recognize their shards elsewhere? How would they act knowing that they couldn’t tell their shards the truth in order to avoid a possible act of soul supremacy? What if there is a shard out there that’s stronger than us; despite being less completed?

What preliminary mental measures have they taken for these possible outcomes?

Medieval, Contemporary, or futuristic; which era does your WoL/D prefer?

We’ve seen so many different places that span many different cultures and eras throughout history. Some of which we have yet to see and others that are so remotely hidden that the world is all but ignorant to them.

Which era suits your warriors interest more than any other? What role would they play in that society? Would they even fit in despite their interest in the world?

How might / do they use this interest to disappear into this society when they don’t want to be found for a time?
