So here's the first paragraph, because screw lines, of my Moms AU: "Varian sat still as stone, barely even registering the passage of time. Only when the room around him grew too dark to see did he move, pushing himself up from his chair and going to light the lamps. The indents his clutching hands had left on the leather cushioning of the chair’s arms had not yet faded when he returned to his seat."
