Loki had to cast the time travel spell once again.

Loki didn't want to. He told Captain that this is not how the magic works - “it's not your private travel agency, Rogers!” -  but Cap chose to simply ignore Loki's complaints. Instead, Cap was focusing on his metal arm boyfriend who looked somehow sad and distant. Loki couldn't stand it anymore. “Alright, one last time!” he yelled. Captain beamed at him and took his boyfriend by the metal arm. “Buck, where do you want to go?” Captain asked Bucky softly. Buck took a deep breath. Then he looked back at Cap and Loki felt that there was a wordless, silent conversation ongoing between those two. Love magic, Loki thought. Interesting. Then Loki felt their *when* and *where*. They both visualised the same spot in time and space at once. Loki couldn't help but be impressed. “Right,” he cleared his throat. “Five minutes. You know the rules.” And then Loki sent Cap and his metal arm boyfriend to their chosen where and when, together. What exactly did Loki expect? Something dramatic, that's for sure. Maybe their first kiss? Perhaps one of their heroic war moments? Anything big, loud and special.   What did Loki get? A slice of something that looked like a quiet late October afternoon. Loki saw the Captain, small and skinny, before he even became anything worth the attention, sitting on the windowsill, drawing. His soldier boy had both arms then and short hair. Loki had to admit he looks… good. *Now* Cap hugged Bucky and Bucky, who was nervous and silent the whole negotiating, looked immediately relaxed and at ease. They both watched the shared memory in silence. Loki wanted to feel as he always did when he had to deal with humans: cold, wry, and with a bit of an eye roll. Instead he was holding his breath as if facing something very fragile and rare. Humans, Loki thought. And perhaps he finally began to understand why his brother liked those funny, awkward, vulnerable and peculiar mortals so much.

Bucky too could choose his five minutes of time travel window. "Where to? And when?" the God of Mischief asked Bucky and grinned. "A dance hall? Maybe a world fair? Or your favorite Brooklyn brothel? I have heard the thirties in Midgard were - wild..." Bucky frowned. "You said I won't be able to touch anything. Why would I want to go to a dance hall?" Loki shrugged. "I see your lover has already explained you the rules. Brilliant. No touching, then. You will not be seen or heard and your presence will not have any impact whatsoever." "Understand," said Bucky. "If that is clear, give me your coordinates then." "Huh?" Loki rolled his eyes. "Concentrate on the where and the when, soldier boy."

Time passed. Loki located the memory and casted the spell. And while doing this, he couldn't help but think to himself: "What strange creatures these humans are. They seem to just love to torture themselves over and over again..."

Loki must use his spells for a good cause this time. But does he really?

“So. Steve Rogers. Captain America. Finally we are meeting again.” said the God of Mischief. Steve, standing in the doorway of the dining hall, frowned. “Pleasure is all yours,” he answered. “How does it work?” Loki waved his hand impatiently. “I can't and I won't explain magic to a mortal. Do you want it?” “Yes,” said Steve firmly. Loki smiled. Steve continued: “I know you have to make up for the crimes you committed. I know you have some kind of a long run deal with the elders of Asgard. You offered that I could see whoever I wanted. Any place, any time.” Loki nodded. “You'll have five minutes before the spell wears off.” “Understand.” Loki continued: “You won't be seen or heard, so don't try for any form of contact. Your presence won't make any impact on their present. Or their future. You, on the other hand, will be able to see and hear everything. You can move within the scene but you'll be like a ghost. You will not be able to touch. Try it - for I know you would - but they won't feel you.” “And me? Will I feel anything?” “Oh,” Loki smiled in response. “My dear Captain, you will feel everything.” Steve nodded. Loki stood up and raised his hands. “So, Rogers - where to?”

And Steve... knew.
