Heroless Au is a Terraria Au based off the Element Animation Series, but with a twist that it’s my favorite town NPCs, not exactly a swap Au but some characters take on elements(hah) of the characters from the Original Series.Â
The Au is named for the fact that the Hero/Player doesn’t exist in this Au they just never showed up or existed, as a result the world is hanging on by thin threads as the balance of powers constantly shifts. Unfortunately, many have stopped caring about trying to do anything about it, most are just trying to live their lives before some horrific terror cuts it short.Â
The Guide is still the Guardian but he is alone in his duties as the last known Dryad has gone missing, around the same time a corrupted monster started to being rumored to be stalking the night.Â
Mechanical Bosses and Lunatic Cultist will become a problem later, tied mainly into the Mechanic and Clothier’s storylines.Â

------------------------------------
The only completely normal person, nothing special about her, the technological expert and the only person who spends hundreds of coins on just wire.
She has all the wiring tools and accessories on her person at all times.
Has a Prosthetic Arm, her prosthetic only has 3 fingers and a thumb, the palm is magnetic.
Over time she may upgrade it using different metals and materials to fit her environment.Â
Warren has once gotten his chains stuck on the magnet, it was not a fun day.
Only has like 1 outfit, her usual overalls and sweater.
The only exception is the addition of a coat + snow goggles when it’s really cold out.
She is often the voice of reason when Tairona isn’t around due to being the only somewhat normal person in a group of magical beings.Â
Because of her isolation for years, Autumn has very poor people skills and is constantly paranoid to the point of laying traps anywhere she frequents.Â
She has immense guilt for building the Mechanical bosses, but tries to hide it behind the fact that she was an unwilling participant in the creation of them.Â
At first, she is reluctant to track down and dismantle them, feeling she is unable to do so as they were designed after pieces of Cthulhu.Â
Despite everything that happened to her, she still somewhat tries to be optimistic, she escaped after all.Â
She is a completely normal person, who lacks magical abilities.Â
She prefers to set traps rather than direct fighting. When forced to fight she uses her wrench like either a boomerang or a blunt object.Â
Unwillingly built the Mechanical bosses, despite her efforts to sabotage her own work, they became operational. She would later use them to distract the Cultists as she escapes.Â
At the time, Only the Destroyer and Twins were operational, as Skeletron Prime lacked a power source strong enough to power it up.Â
Escaped the Dungeon solely because of sheer desperation, taking advantage of the chaos she caused to slip away without notice, afterwards she laid low to avoid getting the attention of the cultists, she got out alive bruised and missing an arm she’d then quietly try to go off the radar to avoid recapture.Â
Hasn’t slept in weeks, too paranoid to sleep and constantly working on wiring traps. When she does sleep she sleeps with her wrench like it’s a pillow.Â
Of the Mechanical bosses, she is most horrified by Skeletron Prime, due to its resemblance to Skeletron.Â
She and the Goblin (Named Xanos) still have their mutual crushes on each other,Â
At first, Autumn was a bit annoyed at Xanos, for the whole being captured, but upon actually talking and realizing they both are displeased with being practically enslaved by the Goblin Army, the two become close as they also share a similar knack for invention.Â
They would both develop crushes on each other but they both having poor people(and Goblin) skills, they both failed to admit this.Â
She and Phillip both hate each other because of their past together at the Dungeon. She wants him dead for what he did to her but can never convince herself to actually fight him. Normally they just avoid speaking to each other or interacting unless absolutely necessary which gets on some people’s nerves.Â
Deadpan snarker and will point out the obvious. Despite being the only fully normal human she is no longer phased by much of anything magical.

Tairona is an odd Lihzarhds, who had parted with his kind to seek out the sun.Â
Lihzarhds are giant human shaped skinks with other lizard traits. It is nearly impossible to hide him because of his height and the fact he really sucks at blending in with people. He’s used to getting stared at.Â
He is the most level headed member of the main group, usually the voice of reason.Â
He speaks oddly, his odd speech pattern is because of Lihzarhd’s often speaking in a more philosophical way with each other.Â
Makes Zero effort to hide, what he is there is no way though to really hide a giant reptile.Â
Little changes from his like Sprite? He never takes off his skull mask.
He can do spells and stuff like that, any sort of spell/minion seen in the actual like- show he can still do, with maybe some mixing of different mage/summoner items that tie back into the Witch Doctor in some way becoming a part of his arsenal.Â
He still has a blowgun, can use different darts with it, He also is just a really big strong Lihzarhd, easily able to carry a person while running.Â
Lihzarhds as a whole worship and idolize the sun, but also live in constant fear of its wrath and outsiders, so they are forbidden to ever leave the safety of the temple. Tairona had always had a fascination with the Celestial bodies, when he dared to question their nature he was labeled crazy and exiled to the horrors of the jungle.
Cold blooded, prefers to use warming rocks than basking in the sun.
Zero sense of direction, he will get lost even if you give him a compass and a map with everything written down.
Lihzarhds are incredibly rare to be spotted outside of the temple, so there is a lot of myth/rumour surrounding them. Some say they’re primitive while others say they’re the most advanced civilization still standing, none though dare prove if the rumors are true or false by finding and invading their sacred temple.Â
Tairona and Warren were both meant to I guess be a rewrite of the Skeleton and Witch Doctor from the original, but with some slight alterations to the dynamic where they both respect and kind of annoy each other greatly.Â

A wannabe zookeeper with a knack for animals. She is a WereFox,Â
over time she gains more fox-like traits. Such as her hands appearing more like a fox’s paws or having fur mixed in with her skin. Turns into a big fox during blood moons.Â
One of the few characters here to actually wear outfits Pip makes. Has outfits for different areas so she doesn’t freeze or burn to death.Â
Besides for Elitia, Bindi is the nicest person of the main group, But incredibly absent minded and unfocused, she rarely has any clue what’s actually going on or picking up on inter-personal drama, which can become a bad thing when she’s stuck being mediator for drama. Valley girl speaking pattern.Â
During a Full Moon or Blood Moon she becomes incredibly violent, and feral, but still tries to warn others to not come near here, if left unprovoked she is less likely to actually hurt anybody. Â
Can use her claws in combat, She is also much faster than your average person.
When a Full Moon occurs she becomes a full-WereFox and can be quite the menace physically.Â
Was bitten on the knee as a kid trying to tend to a sick looking fox, this fox bite is the source of her curse.Â
She would be chased out of town after an incident afterwards she mainly just traveled around trying to achieve her dream of filling out her bestiary despite how dangerous it would be.Â
Bindi and her older brother Arnie were incredibly close growing up, though when Bindi was banished Arnie and her would be separated.
Bindi is not aware of her brother’s fate, thinking he is still alive even after she returns home to find him missing, she believes he’s still just off golfing even as it’s made apparent he is long gone…
Has zero idea how she got here, doesn’t really mind she’s just happy to be here. She is oblivious to the oddities and relationships of others.Â

------------------------------------
Warren is a Demon who somehow fooled people into thinking he was a normal person, even as he references events that happened 2 centuries ago.Â
Is definitely not a demon in a poorly thought out disguise, He’s trying his best. His hat hides his horns, tail is hidden by cloak/cape(idk what it is), gloves and scarf handles the rest. Broken Horns, (Possibly regrow later on), jaw is possibly misaligned/does not hinge correctly. His Jaw is stitched shut most of the time to keep it shut. Odd hands, split along the gap between his ring and middle fingers. Holds things odd as a result. Horns are based on a pronghorn, which is why they can regrow. Spindly tail and limbs in general. Looks wobbly even when he’s perfectly balanced.Â
Demons have elements of the Wall of Flesh to connect them back to the WoF.
Warren is constantly in a horrible mood, it’s been debated by some if it’s because he’s a Demon or if it’s just how he is, insufferably grumpy. When he isn’t in a horrible mood he’s slightly more tolerable to be around, He does eventually begin to warm up after getting kindness thrown at him, even if he has no idea why they’re even being nice to him in the first place.Â
He is incredibly greedy even in life and it’s much worse in Death. He will take anything even remotely shiny and/or valuable if he spots it, disregarding anybody’s safety or his own safety for that matter. At the end of the day, regardless of how much self-control Warren claims to have, he is still a Demon, and Demons can be violent.Â
What he lacks in being tolerable, he makes up for in actually being competent at his job and knowledge on how Demons work (Seeing he is a Demon). He is not phased by much anymore, and tends to know what he’s doing when he isn’t acting like the Demon he is. He hides that he is a Demon, he’s well aware that Demons are seen as “Bloodthirsty Monsters who feast upon the flesh of those idiotic enough to invade their domain”. He’d also prefer to not get killed by some wannabe Demon Hunter or an angry mob. Â
Warren has the standard abilities of a Tortured Soul meaning he can do some basic magic, he simply refuses to actually use any magic himself. He never explains why, but he’d seemingly rather bash or stab somebody with his cane (Which can be used as a swordstick).Â
He is immune to catching fire and burning in lava, he is also immune to regular fire and Hellfire. Shadow Flame, when concentrated Ex. the Sickles and tridents conjured by Demons) do burn him and leave marks. The Shadow flames used by others still sting but hurt much less. Frostburn and Cursed Flames are an entirely different story, they will actually hurt.Â
Left Hell after getting tired of endless suffering and the annoyance that is other Demons, decided to see what the rest of the world had to offer and if he could get anything valuable out of it.Â
He ran into Tairona while still Underground as he wandered into the Underground Jungle, they stuck together out of necessity as Warren had information about the surface and had a sense of direction while Tairona knew how to not die to the million hornets and spiders, they continued to stick together afterwards even as Warren attempted to rid himself of Tairona.Â
Never sleeps or really sits in one place for long, always moving around even when it’s really inconvenient, He physically cannot stop moving if he does he’ll be in pain. He does eventually pass out. Â
Completely shit vision, he can’t see in the dark or anywhere that isn’t extremely well lit. His vision is somewhat ok when in the Underworld. He is also horrible at balancing.Â
Despite being a Demon, he hates Demons, and despite formerly being Human he also hates Humans. He hates (Most) Fairies the most however. Honestly a bit for if I ever get around to actually writing is that whenever somebody insults demons he just corrects them by saying something worse.Â
Demons are odd, being either natural born demons such as Red Devils and Imps, or souls twisted by the Underworld’s influence, He is the latter, a Tortured Soul.Â
Hybrids between Red Devils and Tortured Souls make up the majority of the infantry of Hell.

Phillip “Pip” (Clothier)
------------------------------------
A lonely clothier, still somewhat under Skeltron’s curse.
Permanent Sad expression.
Cult tattoos, meant to symbolize how Skeletron is a fragment of the Moon Lord, they also act as a physical reminder of his curse, and that he is seemingly eternally bound to Skeletron. Hands burnt by improper use of magic.
Has different outfits, for different situations.Â
Skeletron is basically the same in Canon with some slight alterations to more so resemble the Moon Lord as Skeletron is Cthulhu’s skeleton. He also has Shadow Flame Eyes.Â
Pip, or Phillip is rather soft spoken and depressing, he is just seemingly unable to actually be happy. Still he tries to make up for what he did, even if he isn’t entirely sure what it was he did or the full extent of his actions. He still is somewhat influenced by Skeletron, the full extent of this influence is unclear, it's presumed to manifest as mood swings or sudden aggression.Â
He can make Shadow Skulls like in canon.Â
Skeletron is basically the same as in Expert mode but also now with Shadow Skulls. This man is immortal and is way too old.Â
Pip would be cursed and bound to Skeletron, with his only hope of being free being either Skeletron’s defeat or reviving Cthulhu for the Lunatic Cultist, Pip would work for the Cultist, kidnapping the Mechanic and keeping her locked in the Dungeon with little memory of this.Â
When the Mechanic escaped, Pip was punished and decided to sever ties with the Cultist, (Something which he unknowingly agreed with Skeletron on), he found a way to suppress Skeletron, if only to avoid transforming at night but still feeling a horrible chill and horrific nightmares each night.
Most call him Pip, the Mechanic calls him Phillip, Bindi sometimes calls him Pippy (or occasionally she’ll slip and call him Chippy).
Is like the 3rd Insomniac of the group.
Often tries to be positive but it usually backfires horribly, as he usually says something horrifying instead.Â
Still thinks it’s the 1400s, this man is OLD.Â
He sews outfits and other crafts when stressed which is always.Â

Princess Elitia (Princess)
------------------------------------
A wayward fairy princess with a heart of gold.Â
She is the smallest of the main cast, and also the youngest.Â
She can retract her wings if needed, her hair also flows akin to Princess Celestia from Mlp.
She has different outfits.Â
Elitia is kind-hearted soul who tries to see the best out of everyone even those who really really suck (like most of the cast tbh), but also sheltered, shy and naive child who is unaware of the dangers of the rest of the world outside of the Hallow, which sometimes means she offends others unintentionally. She speaks like a royal.Â
Because of her being a fairy, she can use magic, without having to use a conduit to do so. She is proficient in light/Hallowed magics, and as such is able to banish the Corruption and Crimson, her magic is also more effective on the Demonic. She is able to fly and can even shrink down if needed.
The Princess is a mystery, her parents are deceased and she claims to have run away from her kingdom but won’t share anymore details.Â
She is an oddity among fairies, being pacifistic even when presented with Corrupted or Crimsoned abominations. She also oddly shows little ill will towards anybody even those who might be considered as wicked.Â
She can befriend almost anybody if you give her enough time and glitter. Could be considered a tag along of sorts, the others didn’t even realize she was following them at first.Â
She is like the only one here to genuinely like and trust the Hallow(And Empress of Light), the others find it odd or just straight up refuse to step foot in it for obvious reasons.

Now the actual plot, is something I still am struggling on actually writing, mainly the methods in which these 6 meet.
I have some ideas, such as just simply using the same method in the Original show, having them by happenstance meet and be forced to work together to get out of a situation, or having them meet each other over time but still have them meet early on.
I do know I want to explore the Mechanical Bosses' origins, as well as the world as a whole, since it's one of the more interesting parts of Terraria to me to explore. I might also have a side plot about Bindi trying to figure out what happened to her brother.
I'm open to questions about the Au, I am still somewhat new to Tumblr so I just hope my ask box is open by default. If it isn't... Please tell me.
So... Ask me anything about the Au, either out of character or in character, and I'll slowly work on getting an actual plot outline done.
Thank you to everyone who has liked and supported this Au, I really do appreciate it.
