If you're asking that if they are unlocked due to trauma, than yes I think that is a means one could unlock their semblance.

Two examples being Ren who locked his semblance when his home town was attacked by Grimm. And, Jaune was unlocked when Weiss was in stabbed.

Considering these two are the only examples we've seen of someone unlocking their semblance, and both seemed to happen in rather traumatic events. Trauma seems to be a good means to unlock ones semblance.

But, bar Ren, and Jaune there is only one other person we know the circumstances around how they unlocked their semblance. That being Nora literally being struck by lightning. Considering how she described it as a, 'Crazy Thursday.'

Since a lot of my headcanons affect the canon kwamis as well, I think I am going to make a post for them and go through my headcanons for them. They all keep their canon powers that we seen in the show, but I may change their concept for something I feel matches them better, give them more powers, or simply a change in their transformation phrase.

Tried to make designs afterwards but my art wasn't arting properly today so the anatomy looks sh*t but oh well !!

This took me so long but I finally did it! Full body designs for the ninja (+ Pixal)!

To make them I broke down their canon outfits to see if there were any patterns in their style or the color palettes used. I drew inspiration from some fanart, especially this post by @asooffa , please check it out they're amazing (and they also inspired me to make the character sheets more interesting hehe).

(I do have other drawings about the detailed outfits and the design process, I'll post it in the future)

Some details:

Lloyd's Oni and Dragon form are not complete (I'll design those eventually). It's just to show how his general features change depending on what form he's taking.

Jay's bracelets were made by Cole and the other Nya. I meant them to be platonic but they can be seen as romantic too. The other charms represent the entire team obviously.

Between seasons 7 and 8, Kai tried to reconnect with his father and he finally learned how to properly blacksmith. From then on, all their weapons are made by him, which is why they have his signature.

Like the fact that Lightning is considered an element of creation but it pretty much only destroys unlike the others' elements. It truly is the odd one out and I wish that was more explored

i think the reason lightning feels so destructive in the show is literally because they haven’t explored its creative potential at all. Like . it’s not necessarily that the element itself is inherently violent, it’s that the narrative has only used it in those contexts. We’ve barely seen what it could do if someone used it to build, to connect, to heal. LIKE. WHY HAVENT WE SEEN HIM BEING USED AS A REAL LIFE DEFIBRILLATOR!!!!!! he’s a walking talking power source. now im not saying use him to power the entire city but like damn. He could be doing so much more
