"It doesn't help your credibility to exaggerate, most employers wouldn't literally work you to death" like, I used to work in distribution. If booking a truck driver for back to back shifts until they fall asleep at the wheel, crash, and die counts as being worked to death, I have personally met employers who've worked employees to death and gotten away with a slap on the wrist. It may not be universal, but it's a hell of a lot more common than a lot of us would prefer to think.

Every single labor protection is written in the blood of those who were literally worked to death, and business owners and profiteers would claw those protections back with glee if they could. They will squeeze every red cent from your body if they are allowed, and write off your death for an insurance payout that they'll try to pocket for themselves while hiring your replacement for half the pay they gave to you.

Black woman invents or popularises a phrase -> it enters the vernacular and circulates widely amongst Black and nonblack people -> people removed from the phrase's initial context read it too literally, do not interpret it with sensitivity, assume that the ideas expressed when people use it are shallow / "over"-sexualised / problematic in some way or another that mirrors their feelings about Black people as a whole -> there is a backlash where a supposedly more 'thoughtful,' 'subversive,' etc. alternative to the initial phrase is offered, implying that the initial phrase contained none of that complexity within it to begin with -> rinse & repeat

happy disability pride month to mean cripples, nasty addicts, people with down syndrome who arent nice and talk constant shit, wheelchair users that WILL run you over, autists that dont care and arent about to pretend to, people who lie to their psychiatrists, people that sit on the floor in public places with no benches, amputees that lie profusely about "what happened", ; to the "noncompliant", the "drug seeking", the "mean", the "difficult" and the "undeserving", and so on and so forth, i love us all and we deserve the world actually mwah mwah

to people that hide contraband in their assistive devices. to people that do party tricks they arent supposed to and people who will spit on you if you ask them to do party tricks. to people that weaponise the infantalisation of disabled people for their own purposes (theft et. al.). to the people who "misuse" their medication and people who dont take it at all. to my mother, who takes out her hearing aids when she doesnt want to hear shit anymore but will still pretend to be listening so you dont catch on. to people who sleep all the time and to people with "abnormal" circadian rhythms who are unwilling to alter their sleep/wake cycle to best appeal to societal (and moral) expectations. to people that complain loudly about inaccessibility and refuse to try and "make it work". to people that charge money for invasive questions and people that pretend not to understand the question at all.

these people will say "hey dont group me in with all the other white/male/cis/TME people, im one of the good ones" without a shred of self-awareness

sometimes 'fandom safe space, no discourse etc' means a place is chill. other times it means 'if you get annoyed or upset or complain about racism etc in fandom then you are breaking the rule by bringing something ControversialTM into our safe space and we want to keep real world issues away from our fun zone'. and it does make me laugh bcs do u really think poc can choose to leave 'real world issues' at the door of your 'discourse free' space. as if they're able to turn off the big 'noticing racism' switch in their minds (which you gladly do) just so white ppl can write yaoi without feeling guilty. babes you might as well put a big asterisk after safe space that says *for white people. since that's what you mean

anime will have a character named T. Girl who shows up and says "hello my name is T. Girl i was born a boy but i decided to live my life as a girl, i dress as a girl, i live as a girl, i fully identify as a girl, and and fully uncomfortable with people viewing me as a boy. Also every character in the show refers to me as a girl and use female pronouns on me". and anime fans will see this and say "no hes not actualy a trans girl hes just a femboy. im not transphobic btw"

like it's tricky because there are a lot of cases where forming your politics as a post-hoc justification for your kneejerk reaction will have you saying reactionary things (e.g. disgust in reaction to something sexually non-normative -> "we need to punish these people socially and legally," fear in reaction to seeing a mentally ill person in public -> "we have to expand psychiatric power to keep these people out of the public," etc.) because you Have received a large amount of conservative messaging in your life & your "common sense" & inner narrative are going to reflect that. so you shouldn't do that. but "reactionary" is a word with a defined meaning which describes a desire to regress or "return" to a conservative, largely fictionalized, "simpler" past against social progress. and i understand this sounds like pedantry to a lot of people but when you daily see self identified leftists scolding, for instance, family abolitionists for being "reactionary" because their politics are a "reaction" to child abuse (and in that process reifying the family as a natural and unquestionable structure, which is an Actual reactionary political position) it's like. well kind of maddening!

The people they interview: a trans boy with his cis mother and a trans man. The trans man says one of the things that hampers progress is "no one talks to us." Idk man the radio station didn't talk to any trans women, they talked to you, a trans man. Seems like they are pretty willing to talk to you and not the people this ruling actually directly affects.

anyone who uses the r slur at this point needs to just be recognized as a hateful bigot and we cant be quiet about it anymore. genuinely. get mad at people for this. point it out and be annoying about it. no you cant reclaim it you just want an excuse to be bigoted
