As Arabella stood Indigo jumped up with her. She wanted to say something. Apologize for whatever it was she had said wrong but she couldnāt think of what she had done. That wasnāt new to Indigo. Every bad thing she had done was for a purpose. One single purpose that she still...
Indigo allowed herself to be pulled from where she was down the stairs and out of the house. As Arabella asked Indigo to tell her anything she studied the way Arabella was floating. Not an uncommon way for ghosts and the like to get around but not the way Indigo preferred. She liked having her feet on the ground. In this way, even though she enjoyed being in Limbo, she could still feel a little bit human.
"You want a story, eh?" Indigo asked. She almost felt a bit like a pirate when she said that. Indigo loved pirates. They were like her. Did what she wanted to when she wanted to. Not following anyone's rules. She chuckled a bit. "I could tell you about the first time I got arrested. I was eleven years old, remember? I was in fifth grade and I remember I had studied so hard for that Science test. Science was a subject I actually enjoyed if you can believe it. Anyway, I do the test and I thought I had done great by the end of it. When I got it back the next day-- BOOM! A big, fat, red F stared me right in the face. I was so mad that I went home after school and got all the supplies I needed. I destroyed the side mirrors, poked holes in all the tires and smashed in all the windows on that car. With a key I carved the word "asshole" on one of the doors. My teacher came outside to leave for the day and there I was-- standing next to that car with a smile on my face like I'd won the Spelling Bee."
Indigo shook her head a bit with a tiny smile on her face. She had forgotten how much she actually liked to tell people these stories.
"He called the police and they carried me off to the police station. They said I was too young to be put in jail or Juvie so they had to let me go. They threatened a Child Protective Services investigation but they never went through with it. Not enough evidence." Indigo shrugged with her hands in her pockets. She realized it wasn't the best story to tell but the memory made her happy.
Arabella paused, tilting her head. Why did everyone die so young? The world was such a horrible place. Father murdering their own daughters, parents murdering their daughterās fiancee, daughters murdering their parents. But, no one deserved to die at such a young age. Though, judging by Indigoās past, the girl had lived quite a bit before she died.
"Tension?" She asked coolly. Was she that easy to read? "No, no tensionā¦. just⦠thinking. I know Dale, but itās nothing like that, I assure you. I donāt feel for him that wayā¦. Daniel, remember," She added firmly.Ā
Though, Arabella couldnāt be hung up on Daniel forever, but she was going to damn well try. Although, she could already feel her love slipping further and further into the abyss of her soul. The more she looked into Indigoās blue eyes, the more distant she felt from Daniel. What was happening to her?
She blinked and shook away that thought. āI need to take a walkā¦ā She muttered.
As Arabella stood Indigo jumped up with her. She wanted to say something. Apologize for whatever it was she had said wrong but she couldn't think of what she had done. That wasn't new to Indigo. Every bad thing she had done was for a purpose. One single purpose that she still hadn't been able to fulfill when she was killed.
"If... there was something I did or-or said that upset you... I'm sorry." Indigo cringed a bit. Those words sounded foreign coming out of her mouth. She wasn't one to apologize for things when she was alive. Being able to do things to the Living without them seeing or having to apologize for it for so long had dulled that sense of regret even further.
Well... the service was beautiful?
Actually no⦠my dad was the Mayorās Assistant though.
Oh, heh. Silly me. Well, do you know why you were kidnapped?
Arabella tightened her grip on her dress. She didnāt like to be hated, but the girl was only joking, right? Goody-two-shoes? Hah, Arabella was far from that. Just because she was a little bit on the dumb side, and her innocent demeanor set everyone off, did not mean that she was a goody-two-shoes. āYeah, interesting, really. I donāt dwell on that, though,ā She said with a shrug.Ā
"Oh, yes. But that was way before my time. I died in 1894, right around the time of the famous Jack the Ripper crimes. Maybe people thought Jack burnt my house downā¦." Arabella thought aloud, and then shrugged. She looked at the girl, studying her features. She was rather beautiful. A peak of jealous ran up Arabellaās spine. Did Daniel find another woman in Limbo and move on with her? Anger flushed her features, but she pushed it away.
"What about you?"
Indigo noticed a mood change in Arabella as Arabella studied her. Had she hit a nerve?
"Oh, I died around 1997. I guess either way you look at it, I've either been here for a long time, or no time at all. I guess it seems like a short time considering the year that you died."
Arabella's expression didn't change. Suddenly, Indigo got an idea. Does she know the guy from the Black Plague? Friends can be few and far between and Indigo knew right then that if Arabella told her that she knew of Blaide she would be jealous. Especially considering how pretty Arabella is...
"Look, I can sense some tension here," Indigo decided to be honest. "Was it about the guy from the Black Plague? Do you know him?"

Well... the service was beautiful?
I was buried alive⦠kidnapping sucks, you know?
What?! No way, were you like a Governor's daughter or something?
Well... the service was beautiful?
Oh⦠wow⦠Iām so, so sorry.
Heh, it's fine. Things happen. Fathers kill their daughters... What're you gonna do, ya know?
So, how'd you get to be here?
Well... the service was beautiful?
ā¦can I ask how you died?
Um... It's not the best way to go... My dad... um, killed me. He drowned me in a tub... broke my neck. My dad and my step-mom made it look like a suicide...
Well... the service was beautiful?
Of course they did.
Good.
Well... the service was beautiful?
My birth mom did⦠I think⦠I think they told me she was like 17 when she gave me upā¦
My adoptive parents, they picked me, so, I kind of hope so.
But they payed attention to you? They talked to you and looked after you?

Well... the service was beautiful?
Simple, actual⦠Um⦠school, home, a bit of friend time. Not a lot of trouble making for me. Some parties.
Oh, that's probably what I miss the most. The parties... You're life sounds such much more organized than mine. Must've been nice...
Did your parents love you?
Well... the service was beautiful?
Well⦠thatās a lot more exciting than my life.
Oh?
What was your life like then?
Well... the service was beautiful?
ā¦now Iām curious.
Oh, nothing too bad you know. I mean, when I was 15 I set off fireworks in the town bank. When I was 13 I ran my worst enemies parents car through their garage and I was about 16 when I broke into a gas station in the middle of the night--and those were just when I was alive.
Well... the service was beautiful?
Indigo Wolfe, now thatās a pretty name. Bothersome? You?
AreĀ you kidding? You wouldn't believe some of the stuff I did when I was alive! Or some of the stuff I've been doing since I'm dead.
"Gruesome," Arabella breathed, her hands still fiddling with the lace lining on her dress. Someone else had murdered Indigoā¦. how would the woman feel if she knew that Arabella was the one doing the murdering in her story? She didnāt want to scare off the girl. She barely had any friends, and she really couldnāt risk losing one. But, Arabella was not a liar.
Arabella took a deep breath, as if her words were going to come out in one string of breath. āI guess you could say I wasnāt the best behaved kid, either,ā She said slowly. āI was a bit of an air-head, as they called me. I found joy in different things. Like matches, instead of dolls, and gasoline instead of plushies⦠I liked the way the spark ignited⦠it was beautiful⦠By age 10, I had burned a total of 3 buildings, and finally, I was caught. My parents thought I was soiling the Wyrd family name, and they locked me away in our house for 9 years. They home schooled me and never let me leave their sights. Finally, when I was 20, I left my home for the first time in a while⦠I was walking down by the river⦠and I saw a manā¦. Daniel. When I looked at him, the spark ignited⦠and how could I resist him? He was handsome⦠and nice⦠We planned to elope, but on our wedding night, he never showedā¦.ā Arabella looked up at Indigo, her eyes dark. āI was so angry. I went on a rampage. I ran home, only to find my lover dead, by the hands of my own parentsā¦.. Before I knew it, the house was up in flames. It trapped me and my parents insideā¦.ā
Out of spite, Arabella brushed her hand over the burn marks that lined her arms. āNow here I amā¦. and here I will stayā¦ā
"No, shit. I never would've taken you to be a bad-ass kind of girl. If we had gone to the same school, I probably would've hated your guts." Indigo scanned her eyes over the girls soft features and old-timey wedding dress. "I would've marked you off as a goody-two shoes. It's strange how eye-opening being stuck here can be for people."
Indigo crossed her arms and studied the woman again. The dress was rather older looking. And who said "elope" any more, anyway? Indigo thought she had went badly but to have the man you planned to marry killed by your own parents? That had to have been horribly awful.
"So, when did you die anyway? I heard there's a guy here that's from back when the Black Plague was around. Crazy, right?"

Well... the service was beautiful?
Iām Megan. Megan Lee.
What a pretty name... I'm Indigo Wolfe. The most bothersome Poltergeist you'll ever meet.
Nodding his head to what she had said, being stuck here would give you about a thousand ideas that you wouldnāt have thought about when you were alive. Being taken out of his thoughts, when Indigo threw her arms around and started hugging him. Blaide was slightly shocked, but soon smiled and hugged back. It had been such a long time since he had hugged anyone, the last probably being his mother a couple of weeks before his death.
When her arms snaked away from Blaide, he too stood back and scratched the back of his neck. They stood staring at each other for a moment, making Blaideās cheeks redden a bit. A look on Indigoās face madeĀ Blaide know she had yet again gotten a brilliant idea.
Her hands grabbed Blaideās making him smile, āYes that would be lovely. Although I might notĀ be the most interesting person to talk to, I hope you wont mind.ā Giving Indigo a half smile he shrugged. āShow me the way.āĀ
"Don't be silly! I want to hear all about you." Indigo blushed at her own words. When Blaide told her to show him the way she beamed. "It's beautiful! You'll love it!... I hope." She chuckled nervously and motioned for Blaide to follow her. A part of her wanted to hold Blaide's hand but... that would be silly. She chuckled to herself at her own foolishness. It was just the feeling of being alone in Limbo for so long was getting to her. She was being ridiculous.Ā
After awhile they finally came upon the spot. Indigo suddenly felt very open to Blaide. This was where she came when her thoughts got to her too much or she felt... lonely.
Indigo turned to Blaide and motioned in front of them. "Well, this is it."
