Comparison
This is a painting of Amedeo Modigliani, called the cellist. It is painted in 1909 in Paris, France. Note: the title + date are not painted on it, I putted it there.
Analyse:
Colour: He used dark colours, the colours he used are mostly grey and brownish. Using these colours it makes the painting realistic.
Shapes: The shapes in this waiting are mostly curved, because a human body is not straight or sharp. Same with the cello, it has curves.
Marks: There aren’t any marks.
Surface: You can see he has done more layers every time, you can see that by the cello the colours are very realistic and it has shadow.
Scale: The painting is 130 cm (51.18 in.) x 80 cm (31.5 in.)
Space: There is depth in the painting, you can see that by the shadows and 3 dimensional objects in the back.
Materials: He used oil on canvas.
Process: You can see he has painted and over over again, to make it realistic with the shadows, several colours etc.
Composition: The cellist and the cello are put in the front, to be notable at first. In the back you can see he’s at home.
This painting of Pablo Picasso, called Bread and Fruit Dish on a Table. It is made in 1909 in Paris, France. Note: the title + date are not painted on it, I putted it there.
Analyse:
Colour: He used mostly green, yellow and orange/brown. These colours are in very bright and very dark versions. He used the darker once in the back and for shadow.
Shapes: There are straight, curved and sharp shapes in this painting.
Marks: There are no marks in this painting.
Surface: Here you can see that are more layers of paint put on it, you can see it by the shadows he made.
Scale: 164 cm (64 5/8 in.) x 132.5 cm (52 1/4 in.)
Space: You can see depth in the painting, it is 3 dimensional, you can see it by the shadows.
Materials: He used oil on canvas.
Process: You can see in the painting he used more layers of paint to show the shadows in the painting and make it more real.
Composition: You can see the table with fruit and bread are in the front, you can recognise that but what is in the back you can’t see it clearly.
Comparison
There is some differences. In colour Modigliani used more dark colours and Picasso used more bright colours. Also the painting of Picasso is bigger, but the composition is almost the same, the subject is put in the front and the background is not very clear. The painting of Picasso has more different shapes. The space is still the same and the materials too. The process is almost the same, I guess that Modigliani used more time to make the shadows and effects and Picasso used less time. But it came in the same year and at the same place. I do like the painting of Modigliani because it’s was more real painted and not like Picasso kubism
My analyse about the painting from Frida Kahlo "Viva la vida."

In gothic style paintings there is much symbolism, usually many people and very religious. In the second painting you can really see that it is very religious, it's catholic. In the first painting you can see that are many things that are happening, if you look good you can see text and find out which symbolism there is.
Gothic sculptures characteristics:
1. inspired by nature
2. Usually humans
3. Mostly catholic
4. religious
2 Pictures of gothic sculptures
this are 3 pictures of gothic sculptures. Most of the gothic sculptures are on a building. And in almost every sculpture you can see a human or more humans.
These are all gothic architectures because they have the characteristic of the gothic style. The first characteristic is the flying buttresses, the second one is the pointy arches, the third is the vaulted ceiling, the fourth is the gargoyles of the gothic architectures and at least the fifth it's very high. They wanted to make the churches very high because they tough that they will be closer to god. They had big windows because other way the can't see anything. There are gargoyles because they fought that the mean ghost and all devil thing will scared of the gargoyles and leave them alone. (If you click on the photo you will see a description.)
