I woke up 3h later convinced it's the next day and confused my alarm didn’t go off yet, tought it was earlier than it's set and checked the time on the phone. My first tought when I seen it's 20:14 (8:14 pm) was that my phone must be broken because it's clearly Monday morning.

I might be cursed or something cause now I have tendonitis in my right wrist so my artsy time got a bit limited 🥴

C'mon Sea Legs

Turns out this is a year of diagnostic milestones for me. After over a year and a half of trying to navigate the labyrinth of rheumatoid symptoms and possible causes I finally got some answears! I'm officially diagnosed with fibromyalgia which didn't change much but also changed everything. The duloxetine has been working wonders after the 2 weeks of non-stop nausea, not eliminating the pain fully but making it managable. I also got perscription for some lighter-side opiates but they make me log out of reality for at least 3h and feel like a zombie after so I'm not a fan of them.

So, I'm still not in the clear with some of my issues and I'm waiting for some more tests (like my shoulder MRI that got rescheduled because the healthcare system in my country has major issues rn). But I'm alive and I'm more or less functional and I'm gonna count my blessings while I can.

TL;DR: health issues again, updates might be more irregular and far between, might need surgery and a hiatus due to that

Turns out, after consulting a 4th orthopedic surgeon since my shoulder stopped working properly, that the chronic inflammation in my joint actually has a cause. And it's an injury. So I was walking around with an INJURED SHOULDER FOR 5 YEARS and no previous doctor tought of seeking the actual cause for the fluid buildup and movement impairment.

Currently waiting for an MRI to see if I'm gonna need surgery (probably yes cause it wasn't taken care of properly for 5 years)

So if I stop posting art for some time in the following months it might be due to that eheh

I get this question once in a while, usually asked in a sarcastic tone (I'm looking at you, dad!) and the answear is - yeah! It actually helps me a lot!

I've been going to therapy for over 3 years now (and I probably will for a long time since part of my problem is related to pain and the stuff that keeps unfolding) but it really changed the way I react to stress and how I deal with stuff.

Also yeah, the thing in the comic is a pretty big part of how it helped me! (I've been on meds first and they helped me a ton but I wouldn't be where I am now without therapy, I'd probably relapsed already)

So if you've ever considered going to therapy, give it a try. I've been putting this away for years and now I think it was one of the best decisions I could have made for my wellbeing.

Keep in mind that it's just my experience and some people go through a few different therapists/ therapy types before finding one that works for them and some people don't find the right one for them ever - every case is different!

Thank you so much! Curly's symptoms are partially based on my own experience with neurological issues (including migraines and stroke-like episodes), I'm glad other people with similar struggles find that aspect realistic.

I started Piece of Cake partially because I wanted to get back to drawing after a health crisis and as a learning experience, including improving the way I draw hands :) It's really nice to know that you like the way I draw them!

I forgot that this thing had an anniversary this month! It was supposed to be way shorter but here we are...
