With Needle And Thread, I'm Happy

While rummaging through my late mother-in-law's button box, I found a number of wooden buttons, not realising at the time that they are forms for making thread wrapped buttons. A little research has sent me down a new button making path!

Finally finished my last lot of Sashiko for a little while. I backed these 4 hana-fukins and the table centre with a Japanese cotton print so they can be used as reversible placemats.

This month, I’ve been working Sashiko panels, honing my skills and moving from basic stitching to more complex designs with woven elements.

These small projects have been completed for a stall my embroidery group will hold in April ... stumpwork, metal thread, laidwork, beading

While cleaning out a cupboard, I found a partially completed needlepoint with threads in a paper bag from a store that no longer exists. I think it was begun by my late mother-in-law, so must be older than 35 years! It's now finished and set into a box lid.

Another little project completed. This is a scruffy little cactus garden atop a small Rajmahal box.

Another little stumpwork project completed. This one features padding and padded slips and measures 3.5 x 4.5 inches. My own design based on a photo.

Now that it's been gifted, I can post this Hardanger heart I created for a friend's first Christmas after the death of her husband ...

Each year I make small hoops for family and friends to hang on their trees. This year's features fabric created in another project plus gilt foil, beads and gold thread.
